Have you ever broken it off with an ex girlfriend or boyfriend but despite your very clear message to them that it's over, they just don't get the message. They say that breaking up is hard to do but it's made even more difficult when your ex refuse to accept that it's over. Then even when you move out or ask them to leave they start bombarding you with phone calls and text messages. This could be a time when you may need to block a number from calling you.
You will find a lot of information on the Internet saying that blocking a number from calling you is impossible, especially if it a cell phone number but there are actually a number of ways to do it. So if you are in a bit of a pickle with the ex then help is at hand.
Changing Your Number
This really should be a last resort however this is a pretty solid way to block a number from calling you. The problem with this is that you end up having to contact all your current friends and contacts in your phone to let them know that your number has changed. If you have done this to stop the ex from pestering you then then explaining why you have changed your number can be pretty embarassing.
The other problem with this method is that your ex may contact one of your contacts and they may be able to find out your new number from them. However, if you decide to do this then it's just a case of contacting you cell phone company and asking them to cancel your number and issuing you with a new number.
Changing The Settings In Your Cell Phone
In some models of cell phones but not all, you can go into the settings and set your phone to block a number from calling you or should I say block all numbers from calling you except you those who are saved in your phone as contacts. Again, this is probably not the best way to block a number from calling you as it blocks everyone except your contacts.
Reverse Phone Lookup
This is probably the best way to block a number from calling you. It is very likely that you will have the phone number of your ex so you can simply enter the number into the search bar and click search and this will generate a tracer report. Contained within the tracer report will be a lot of detailed information including the carrier details. This will enable you to not only make a formal complaint to the carrier company but you can also go to the police with this information in more severe cases.
