Secure Browsing for Iphone & Ipad

Browsing the internet on your iPhone and iPad is easy. You take it anywhere and you connect to shared networks. The local internet cafe, the airport wifi, hotel broadband, or maybe you're just hijacking your neighbors internet connection because the forgot to put a password on it. The thing that most people don't realize is that sharing a network with someone is like sharing a house, but living in separate rooms. Sure, you can't see them, but they all it takes is a lock-pick or a stolen key, and they can get in your room and see all your stuff. Secure browsing for iPhone and iPad puts a 128 digit long code on your door lock.

Virtual private networks

Though they sound complicated and out of reach for the normal internet user, they're not. Yes, even Apple fans can use them (sorry guys, I'm an Android fan). But the simplicity of setting up and making use of the privacy features of VPN software is amazing.

Step 1: Find a VPN service you like. Some features that will vary from service to service include VPN server location, type of encryption, type of VPN protocol, length of subscription, quality of customer service, price plans, and of course whether or not their product comes with a guarantee. The most important two are going to be server location and type of VPN protocol you use, but customer service ranks a close third.

VPN Server Location

The location of the VPN server will reflect what kind of IP address you have. If you connect to a VPN server in The US, you get a US IP address, regardless of where you actually are. If you connect to a VPN server in China, you get a Chinese IP address. Almost all countries in the world have VPN servers, you just have to find the right VPN service to allow you to connect. The most popular locations are in North American and Europe, but Asia and South America have some as well. For Africa and the Middle East, you've got to look a bit harder.

VPN Protocols

Because you're looking for secure browsing for iOS devices, I would suggest something called L2TP/IPSec. L2TP is the type of VPN, and IPSec is the type of encryption. L2TP/IPSec for iOS is the most secure type of VPN you can get for iPad and iPhone. You can also get something called PPTP, but it's security features are not as advanced. PPTP is good for users who want to change their IP address but are not so interested in the privacy and security advantages of using a VPN. Some sites claim that you can get OpenVPN for iOS systems. This is only partially true. This means you have to jailbreak your device, which may void the warranty. My thinking is that If you wanted to tweak you device, you should have got an Android instead!
