For a few long weeks there were many rumors about the upcoming of new version of Apple operation system - iOS 7.1. And finally these rumors turned out to be true. The new version has been released on March, 11. iOS 7.1 has brought a lot of improvements, visual tweaks and new features for Apple mobile devices.

One of the most interesting features is a built-in CarPlay technology support, which allows Apple devices to connect to the CarPlay- equipped cars. Some car manufacturers, like Volvo and Ferrari, have already demonstrated that function earlier, with beta-versions of iOS 7.1, and now this technology is fully functional.

Other major improvements are about Touch ID and Siri. The voice assistant is now support more languages, the camera has more settings, and the calendar has been improved significantly. Also some of the bugs has been cleaned up that caused the device to reboot unexpectedly, and the calendar has been updated (for example, the holidays for some countries have been added). The iPhone 4 owners can also be happy since the new iOS 7.1 has improved the performance and responsiveness compared to iOS 7, which caused many complains from iPhone 4 users.

Let's inspect all the improvements and updates carefully - here they are, sorted by type.

CarPlay:

- All the new iOS advantages are now available in a car – just plug in the iPhone with CarPlay support.

- Phone, Music, Maps, Messages and third-party audio applications are now supported.

- It is now possible to control CarPlay using Siri as well as using car’s touch screens, buttons and other controls.

Siri:

- Siri manual control has been added. The user is now able to control when should Siri start listening by holding Home button while speaking. This scenery is alternative to the existing one, which is also possible, where Siri has to detect automatically when the user stops talking.

- Way more natural male and female voices in Mandarin Chinese, British and Australian English, and Japanese languages.

iTunes Radio:

- Over the stations list a search field has appeared, where you can create a station using your favorite artist or song title.

- You can buy albums by touching a button at Now Playing screen.

- iTunes Match subscription for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices – to listen iTunes Radio without an advertising.

Calendar:

- Events browsing feature added for a month browsing screen.

- Automatic holiday addition function is now available for some countries.

Access controls:

- Bold font is now applied to a calculator and a number of glyphs, as well as to a keyboard.

- Reduce Movement parameter is now applied to Weather and Messages applications, as well as to interface animations.

- Some new parameters have been added: buttons form, darkening, white balance point.

Miscellaneous:

- Automatic turn on the HDR in iPhone 5S Camera.

- iCloud Keychain support for some countries.

- Automatic cleaning of FaceTime calls notifications, when you answer the incoming call using another device.

- A home screen failure bug fixed.

- Improved Touch ID fingerprints recognition.

- Improved iPhone 4 performance.

- Mail sticker bug for more than 10000 unread messages has been fixed.

- Other interface improvements.

That’s a real update! As usual with every new update, there are going to be a lot of discussions. But we have to agree that there were no such an amount of new features and fixes even in the latest beta-version of iOS 7.1. To install new update, connect to an unlimited Wi-Fi and go to Settings -> Main -> Software Update. All your data remain intact after update. You can also connect your device to a PC or Mac with iTunes installed – there should appear a dialog offering automatic update.
