Sophie Giraffe Teething Toy

I'm sure most parents have heard about Sophie the Giraffe Teether from someone. I don't think I have heard a negative review on Sophie, all I see or hear are parents raving about how much their baby loves it. Well you will hear the same from me!

I was leery when I was first considering buying Sophie because of the price. $20 seemed a bit steep for a rubber teether. I read reviews and asked a few people who I knew had it and decided to give it a go. I purchased it right when my son started showing teething signs around 3 months old.

Now I am a little particular about what I give to my son, I want to give him products that I know are safe and won't expose him to unnecessary chemicals. Of course, after some research, I knew that Sophie was a natural and safe product that won't be harmful.

When we got it in the mail I gave it to my son instantly since he didn't have any other teething toys, only the Baltic Amber Teething Necklace we bought a month prior. He did not like it. It was too big for his hands or his mouth. I would hold it for him and try to get him to teeth it with no avail. He also was too young to be able to grasp it on his own so I set it aside. I kept it close by for the next few days to offer it to him when he was playing or fussy. Well one great day he decided to give it a try.

Now there are lots of small and easy parts on the Giraffe for a baby to chew on so that wasn't a problem, we just had to figure out what he liked. The ears and nose were where he started. :) They were a perfect size for a little baby to chew on, at a little 3 months old. Once he was able to grab things, it was also a perfect size to practice his hand and eye coordination. Well from then on he grew more and more fond of Sophie.

Now Sophie is his favorite toy, and his favorite teething toy. There are so many reasons that we love this toy.

The main reason that this was my primary teething choice for my son is that it's made from all natural rubber so there are no icky plastics that can be ingested. Also the painted designs on it are all food paints so if those are worn off from teething there is no harm.

My son is a big fan because there are so many small and easy to chew on parts for any baby. I have found that the hoof has been his favorite, but when he was younger the ears were the easiest. Sophie is easily the most flexible and long lasting as far as teething toys go. The production is very strong and durable so it won't just fall apart or anything which is a plus. To top it all off, the squeaker is a fun addition to play time. That will certainly attract my son's attention if he is in a fussy mood. Most of the time it takes away the fussys. :)

If I could pick out any negatives about Sophie, I think the main thing is that the material allows lots of pet hair to stick to it once it has been chewed on and is damp. I have to clean it often, but then he is getting a cleaner toy so that isn't so bad either. Other than that I really have nothing bad to say. One of the best purchases I have made for my son so far! It's one of his favorites as well :)

Peace!

~Jess~
