Daily Motivational Thoughts: What to Think

Most people tend focus on the negative aspects of their life. We think of troubles, how diffcult we have it, what we should have and could have done etc. This chokes our potential as negative thinking chokes creativity and possibility-thinking! At the core of our actions, lies our thoughts. What and how we think controls what we do. I want to point out three things that you can actively think about and do, to change this and how you can use the power of affirmations to achieve success in life.

Napoleon Hill once said this: 'What the mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve.' What he was saying was that your thinking sets out what you are capable of. Your daily self motivation may be limited if you believe in your own negative thoughts. 'Winners' in life always think in terms of I Can and I Will. This success mindset creates a success belief within you and once you start believing in that which you tell yourself everyday, it becomes your daily motivational thinking. Here are three things that you can do daily to motivate yourself and develop that motivational thinking:

1- Affirmations

What you could to do here is to create a few sticky notes with phrases on them that will solidify your positive thinking. For instance, "I am a Winner!" - stick one on the bathroom mirror, the front door (inside) and the fridge. This way you will read one of these at least, every day - it has an enormous impact on your thoughts because your verbal positive confirmation will eventually outweigh your negative thought.

2- Discard limiting thoughts about your ability

When you are in one of those situations where you simply dont know 'how to', it is often very easy to accept your doubts and live with it. We are limting the possiblities of what we can achieve, before we have even started! An easy way to get around this is to tell yourself the opposite of what you are negatively asking yourself. For instance, you got a new accounting job but you feel that you are in over your head. This may easily lead to a question like "I am not good with numbers. I wont be able to cope. What am I going to do?" You may not be good with numbers but do you notice how one thought leads to another, which eventually leads to a negative mindset about your abilities. You may rather want to change that negative thinking into a positive mindset - "I might not be good with numbers but I know that I can do well. Let me see how well I can do". The effect that a positive affirmation has is priceless.

3- Think you can

Whatever you do and whatever you attempt, should be preceeded with the thought of knowing that you can. If you think you can't or if you think you can, either way you are right! What you are doing here is developing a success belief. This is true for the other two points mentioned, which all boils down to your own success belief.

There are many ways in developing success beliefs. The method that has worked for me is purely a daily affirmation of some sort. I apply this to everything I do. Another method is to get daily motivational support in the form of motivational emails. What these emails do basically is provide you with those affirmations. Some people can generate the affirmations themselves and others may need some motivational support.
