We would all agree that the process of self development isn’t an overnight process and not instantaneous either. It is also confirm-able that it takes time and can be quite challenging as well. One can easily give up if not guided or if the right tools for self improvement are not in place. This article therefore looks at three essential keys that are necessary for the process of personal development. The three great keys are inspiration, goal setting and networking. Each of these goals is imperative and they are intertwined.
Setting Goals
Goals are very important for any activity and it exists for any action that we take, be it short-term or long-term. Whenever we pick upon tidying up the compound or cleaning the house, the goal is to have a clean and tidy environment. One can learn how to cook well, so as to be able to prepare mouth watering meals for the rest of the life, etc. The list is endless, but almost every action we choose to do have a goal setting behind it.
The same applies for the process of self development. Universally, the ultimate goal for self development is to be able to deal with any problem that life would throw at us. In this, there are short-term goals which must be recognized and worked upon as you develop.
Some goals sound daunting, especially when it comes to professions; for instance business plans. I never liked the process of writing a business plan when I read that it is necessary for any serious business. Little did I realize that it was just setting a goal for my business improvement. You might opt to do some activities but not realize its importance until you finish. Many people do not realize this; and the sooner you realize this, the sooner you set yourself on the highway of the process of self development.
Inspiration
Inspiration is a level of motivation that that creates eagerness to achieve a given goal. It is very important to find a source of inspiration in your process of self development. In case you are not interested in what you do on a daily routine, your level of motivation will never be high. Your interests will never be met and your actions might not be sustained for a long time.
You need to develop interest in your daily activities and a good source of your motivation needs to be defined. The motivation should be clear in your mind and as you do your activities, you should visualize what you intend to achieve. This can help in creating a living inspiration.
In case you do not like what you do, think of a way of refocusing your activities to suite your requirements. Alternatively, you can change the whole activity and pick on something else in which you can incorporate your inspiration with, and, you will posses this great key to the process of self development.
Networking
Networking is mainly socializing among people of similar interest. Man is a social being and this aspect cannot be alienated from the process of self development. Networking keeps you motivated and is a great way of getting some vital services that would be very expensive if you were to pay for.
Imagine being in the same club with Richard Branson or Bill Gates, etc. You would have the chance to share ideas with some of the best businessmen in the world. What impact do you think this would have on you? If you were to pay for their ideas, how much would it cost you?
Networking, therefore, provides you with the platform to interact with other people and this is a major boost to the process of self development. You might be able to develop when you are alone but you will develop fastest when you positively interact with others.
There are other important keys to personal development but above are the basic ones for which the other important keys revolve around.
Your article is interesting. However, I had a hard time understanding the relationship between setting goals, inspiration, and networking. The goals and inspiration tied in well together. If you had a statement like "Networking helps you to achieve your goals," the article would read more smoothly. Inspiration helps with setting goals and finding people who will inspire you to achieve our goals (networking). It helps me to stay focused on my goals and to tell myself the importance of taking action rather than just telling myself I can do a particular activity. Even if I do something small, like commenting on other people's articles, that is better than not doing anything.
This is an awesome update/correction on the interconnection of these 3 factors I wrote about. I agree with them and accept them. I believe future readers will find it helpful. Thanks
Keep writing. You will get better at it with practice. When I first started writing articles, I had a hard time making sure I wrote at least 300 words. The writing flows more smoothly for me now.
Yes, it's important to keep striving to better yourself and succeed.
Thank you, working on the networking part, which for some reason, is the hardest part for me to do.
You are welcome. You will have the best networks you will desire. As long as you are good at making and keeping friends, you will succeed. You are already a step ahead by being in street articles.
I could not stress more the importance of networking. We can never be good at everything, so having someone you know who is good at what your weak at is truly a plus. Thanks for the advice! :)
You are welcome Jan, and thanks for the compliment
Goals are very important and you made many good points on how to make them work.
Thanks Deshinali. Thanks for taking your time
Great information. I like the way you tied the three steps for self-improvement together. Too often I tend to emphasize one over the other two. I like inspiration. I'm OK with setting goals, but not very good at networking. Thanks for helping me see how they are all connected.
Im more than happy I was able to help. I also never realized until I was in dire need for a favour I couldn't afford. I guess that's why we are on street articles as well. Thanks for the complement.
I learned something here. Goals, inspiration, and networking are the steps for self improvement. Thanks for sharing!
Am glad it served you. Thank you for reading
