Motivation is the word of the day as well as the word of the new era. The thing is it's easier to say than do. Read on I have three simple and easy self motivation techniques for you to use.
1. Believe
This is so simple that most people either miss it or overlook it. It maybe one of the harder motivational tips to put into practice. Simply believe in yourself and what you want to accomplish. Along with believing goes positive self talk. This is actually another motivational technique but I believe it is hard to have one with out the other.
Maybe you have heard the song by R. Kelly I Believe I can Fly. That describes this perfectly its all about you believing or having faith in yourself and your abilities. Please note that understanding how it will get done is not part of this equation.
You can not know how it will end or what you will have to do to get there before you even have enough faith in yourself to begin.
2. Positive self talk
I know we mentioned it earlier but its important enough to spend some time on. You can tell yourself you believe all you want but if your words are tearing you down all the belief in the world will not help. You say to yourself I want to go back to school and I believe I can do it. Then you say to your friends at work it's expensive to go back to school. I have no idea how people juggle school and family and then a job. I just can't imagine how they do it.
You might be thinking that's reality not negative self talk but I disagree with you. Why? Because you have effectively talked your self out of trying. You never picked up a phone to see what the hours would be or looked into the price. You definitely did not talk it over with your family you simply buried the dreamed before it was old enough to breathe on it own.
Be careful what you say the wrong self talk is deadly not only to you but to those around you.
3. Write it down
Again this is such an easy thing to do and cost no real money. You can use a pen and paper you find around the house. Put it on the walls and in your wallet so you can carry it with you and refer back to it. Why should you do this? Because you just made it more real more achievable. After you have written it read it once or twice a day. Read it in the morning when you first get up and read it just before you go to bed. You will find its easier to believe the more you read it. Suddenly you will find yourself actively walking in that direction.
Through the simple steps of believing, positive self talk and simply writing your goal down you can begin to change the direction you are heading in. Yes in the days and months ahead you will learn more and do more. Yet in the end isn't that what's life about? Life is an adventure so live yours to the fullest.
