Are you a collector of movie posters and art, and love to have these cool images draped around your house or apartment. There has been a recent surge in the hunt for 1950's sci-fi unique movie posters and art and I can only suggest this is due to the usual Hollywood remakes of these classics, and the fact also that they are quite amazing pictures of cult movies.
In 2013, one of my favourite classic sci-fi movies is been remade and this is the one and only Creature From The Black Lagoon. Now personally, I am not a fan of remakes at all and can not fathom nor comprehend what will be done to this brilliant movie (of course over the top 3D and CGI) but as the argument goes, these movies need to be remade for the new generation who have never heard nor seen this classic.
The upside to remakes of movies in this genre is it produces some cool Halloween or fancy dress costumes for the monster involved, brings new toys and video games, books and DVD's, but most importantly, amazing posters and Art works, especially for collectors who love these movies of a certain era.
Because of the history of this movie (one of the first 3D movies) and the way the monster looked and was portrayed, and also the story behind the movie, countless art works and posters have come about with some amazing and cool looking drawings or framed pictures that poster and art hunters go crazy for.
The Creature From The Black Lagoon, as I have seen, has some crazy art and posters depicting the famous scene of the monster holding the woman in its arms or of the monster slowly coming out of the water with its arms out, my favourite scene and such a classic scene it is too.
Of course, in today's terms of horror, it is not scary at all but still to myself and to many other fans of 1950's sci-fi, you just can not beat the brilliance of a movie like this and the classic scenes that set the mark for movies like Jaws, Predator and Alien, hence the reason why art and poster of the 50's sci-fi are high in demand.
I'm sure after the remake it's popularity will explode (depending on the quality of the remake yikes!) and again the demand for the art and posters as well as the monster costume will be huge. After the remakes of Journey To The Center Of The Earth, The Day The Earth Stood Still and War Of The Worlds (All amazing Classics) I fear for this monster and what sort of updated look it will receive.
The best thing about remakes are, if they are horrifyingly bad, people tend to turn back to the original with love and open arms and gladly be thankful of the original and the gorgeous costumes, art and posters it helped developed. For this movie you can see what types of art or posters are available at The Creature From The Black Lagoon Site and hopefully pray the remake does some homage to this classic black and white monster.
