Freddie Starr And His Stomach Of Steel

Fans of The Only Way is Essex must have felt a slight smugness this evening watching Mark Wright compete against comedian Freddie Starr in the Greasy Spoon Cafe bushtucker trial. In the tv show, The Only Way is Essex, fans watched as Mark broke the heart of his fiancee Lauren Goodger, cheating on her with his ex girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh.

Tonight, in the jungles of Australia, Mark got some comeuppance for his antics when he was voted to take part in the Bushtucker trial The Greasy Spoon Cafe. A trial which was to involve eating a range of "delicacies" including testicals, camel toes, fermented eggs, and mice tails.

As if this wasn't bad enough for the TOWIE star, he was competing against none other than Freddie Starr, a comedian who is famed for reportedly once eating a live hamster. Mark admitted before the task that he was worried about his opponent saying "“I am scared of Freddie because he has eaten a hamster”.

His fears were well justified in my opinion as Starr proved a very tough opponent, the whole way through the task.

The first meal up was fermented eggs. They had to eat one each to pass. Freddie ate his egg without hesitation, watching as Mark turned visibly pale. The comedian seemed to enjoy Mark's disgust and even winked at him as he chewed. Mark passed on the dish.

Their next course, a mixture of bugs, fruit, mice tails and meal worms proved no problem for Freddie who wolfed it down and took great enjoyment in Mark's gagging as he ate and struggled to keep the food down, even taunting the TOWIE star as he gagged.

The anus of a bush pig was up next and Mark tried to return Freddie's teasing by vividly describing what the anus is used for as Starr chewed. Freddie appeared unfazed and watched calmly as Mark ate his share.

Mark really appeared to struggle to eat the camel toe and came very close to vomiting, much to the amusement of his, very strong stomached, opponent who finished his share in one gulp. By now, even Ant and Dec are watching Freddie in amazement.

It is worth pointing out at this stage that Freddie Starr ate everything he was handed without batting an eyelid. Every contestant who has faced this trial in the past has gagged, coughed, choked, some even vomit. Freddie Starr simply tucked into the food as if it were Chinese takeout on a Saturday night.

After both men had eaten the camel toe, Freddie had eaten four meals, Mark had only eaten three. In order to win, Freddie only had to eat turkey testicles in a slime sauce. Freddie quickly grabbed a handful and eagerly devoured them to the amazement of the hosts Ant and Dec. Needless to say, Mark decided to turn the dish down, announcing to Freddie " “you are a lunatic…you would never have stopped.”

Winning this Bushtucker trial meant that Freddie Starr won an evening meal for his team Snake Rock, but was unable to enjoy it, or celebrate with his team mates as the comedian was rushed to hospital after suffering an allergic reaction.

Mark has been selected again, by the public, to compete in Wednesday's Bushtucker Trial which will see him enclosed in a chamber with a selection of creepy crawlies
