Must See Movies Of 2011

A lot of really great movies came in 2011, I was excited for them! A lot of good movies are lined up for this year too and I can hardly wait. This is my list of the must see movies of 2011. In my opinion these are the best movies of 2011. There will be a short personal review for each movie, and I'll try not to leave any spoilers...because I just HATE spoilers. Well here is my 2011 movie list and reviews! In no way is the listing of the movies have anything to do with the order in which I like them btw.

X-Men First Class: In my opinion this was the absolute best movie of the year. It had a lot of not very well known actors starring in it, and they were just superb. I wasn't a very big fan of X-Men 3 or Origins, but this one made me jumping up and down like a giddy school girl when I saw the trailer for the first time. The movie completely blew me away with it's depth and character development. The raw emotion between Professor X and Magneto can be physically felt through the entire movie. I loved every second of it!

Thor: What can I say. Every women out there is with me on this one....the actor that plays Thor is a man hunk. I can listen to this guy talk aaaallll daaaaay, but that's besides the point. The action in this movie more than the actual story is the thing that drove me to watch this movie. I absolutely love Norse mythology, but I already knew the story of Thor before I even watched the movie. That aside....man this movie was just visually stunning. I couldn't have asked for a better movie for Thor.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon: I definitely enjoyed this movie more than I did the first and the second one. This one has it all. Character driven, action packed...you can actually SEE what's going on on the screen rather than just flashes of metal and color and thinking to yourself...well who the hell was that that was fighting? I grew up watching the Transformers cartoon...like most of you...and knew most of the character before I even saw these movies, so I had a basic idea before I came in to this. This movie just blew me away. The first two kind of just threw you in there, tossed you a few names of the bots, and started blowing stuff up. Not this one. I would definitely see it, even if you didn't enjoy the first two.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: Another series I grew up on. I remember the Christmas morning, my brother and my sister and I opened up a gift and saw the first 3 books of Harry Potter. Having heard of the books already, we were super excited and we literally spent the rest of the day reading them. We were all pretty fast readers, and I read the first book first. When I was done with it, I passed it to my brother who passed it to my older sister...and it continued in a circle that way until we were all sitting on the bedroom floor just reading these books with our mouths hanging open in wonder. The epic conclusion to the series does these books justice and I was left completely satisfied. Yes...there are loopholes...yes....the books at first are childish. But if there are any of you out there that have listened to others and have not even given this series a try, slap yourself...right now...as hard as you can...and grow a brain for yourself instead of blindly following along with the rest of the sheep. Watch this series!

Captain America: I have to admit I expected more from this movie, but that was my own fault for feeding in to the overhype. The movie was a pretty good watch all in all. The actors were great, the story line was easy to follow, and it had just the right amount of superhero cheese without overdoing it. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Super 8: I was really kind of iffy on this one with all of the hype around it and everyone going crazy over is just because Spielberg's name was tagged on it, but I have to admit....I loved this movie. It doesn't flash the thing in question all around the movie and it's completely character driven with that realistic feel to it. You feel as if this could actually happen, and as though it has before. It will make you cry and scream at the TV, and I love it for it. I can't say much about this movie because the best part of it is it's mystery. I can say this though...go watch it!

Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides: I love the Pirates series so I guess I'm a little biased to this one, but I think it was one of the better ones if nothing else. I mean...the first one was obviously the best one, but the others just kind of felt like they were milking it, especially At World's End. This one has brought in a new set of characters with the familiar Captain Jack Sparrow for that fresh feeling. I would definitely rent this one at least even if you don't like the other ones just to give it a try.

Green Lantern: I absolutely LOVE Green Lantern, so once again I knew what to expect coming in to this movie. I don't think this movie is "movie of the year" but it's worth a watch. They kind of rush things along a bit, and don't explain everything so if you're new to the Green Lantern universe you may be a little lost. For those who are fans...don't expect much, but give it a try.

Sucker Punch: I think this one is a very underrated movie. I watched this movie with my headphones in so I could have the best experience with the sound and music. This movie is pretty much like a long string of music videos with an interesting story attached and very appealing special effects. I loved it!

Rio: A very family friendly movie with quirks in it that adults will catch. It's very visually stunning with bright and beautiful colors while telling a heartfelt story. The voice actors nail it and the singing....omg...it was catchy and just beautiful. One to watch with the kids, but I wouldn't recommend watching it with your man friends lol.

Rango: This one wasn't quite...what I expected it to be. I mean, it starts off telling you the main character is going to die! The story is the average "oh I hate that guy" villain type stuff with the main character being the hero, making a few mistakes..paying for them in the end..and nutting up. A typical family movie with a morale in the end. I still laughed quite a few times and shook my head a few too.

Limitless: When i first watched the trailer on this one I knew it was going to be unique, and it didn't disappoint. This is a very unique film that twists you around so much you'll feel just dizzy and have to stop and think...whoa did that just happen? The movie is surprisingly realistic for being based around a drug that makes you into a super genius. Once again I can't say much without giving away the story other than to just watch it, or even give the trailer a peek.

Cowboys and Aliens: It took me a good while to get around to watching this one. I watched just a a few days ago in fact when I rented it from Blockbuster. It's a little unrealistic, which I expected...I mean come on....aliens who achieved space travel going up against cowboys? The aliens are pretty...stupid to say the least, but it was entertaining and I would recommend a watch. Daniel Craig definitely made the movie, but it was heartwarming too with likable characters, characters you just want to hate and characters that fall in that grey area like the character that Harrison Ford plays. BOY is he getting old!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes: OK...this one is ALMOST tied with First Class for me. I just...LOVED this movie. As you can already gather if you saw the first one, the humans die off somehow and it's implied that the apes are the ones that did it. I'm not telling you a single thing...but to watch this!

I Am Number Four: Another movie that I feel was underrated. Yes it's cliche, yes it's been done 5 or 6 times before...but it's different. When i watched this movie I was trying to over analyze it to figure out the ending before it even happened. It surprised the hell out of me I have to say. Nothing happened that I expected to happen and that's why it made my list.

Kung Fu Panda2: Hahahaha, what can I say about this one? Jack freaking Black voicing a fat panda who knows Kung Fu. I mean come on! This movies is hilarious...but it also tells of Po's beginnings and why there are no other pandas out there like him...and why his father is a goose (HAHAH!). I just love the way the artists have the animals fighting...it's so magical and fluid it's like watching a dance. If you enjoyed the first one, you're going to just love this one.

Hanna: An independent film that blew me away. Here I was looking at this movie thinking "oh boy..another revenge flick that stars a female role...haven't had many of those...." and just rolling my eyes at it for the film industry milking the whole revenge flick type thing. Then...I watched it. It's not like any revenge flick you have ever seen. This girl is just so weird and detached from the world you feel sorry for her. Once again I can't say much without giving it away. It's worth a watch.

Insidious: First things first I am not a huge fan of horror movies, but my fiance is. He had me sit down and watch this movie with him and he loved it. Since he watches them more than I so, I asked him his opinion to add to my own. This movie is pretty darn scary realistic. I mean..yeah..it's a horror movie, but the ghosts they used in it were so crazy creepy that I got chills. And when the psychic was describing the demon that was haunting the poor boy.... I almost ran from the room. It was just terrifying, and not in that cheesy "oh I'm just going to play up the music and have something jump at the screen" sort of way. It was in that Exorcism of Emily Rose type of way that has you waking up at 3am for the next few days sweating.

Sanctum: I can't say much about this movie without giving it away. It's very character driven with little action in it. The underwater scenery is gorgeous. The story is moving in a way that makes you want to turn it off, yet you can't. And the bad guy is...omg....grrrrrrrrr. Worth a watch.

Paul: Hahaha...yeah...Paul... This movie is pretty darn funny. It's also so very very sad. It's very cliche and you expect pretty much everything that happens, but it's all in the way it's presented and it's presented beautifully. I saw this movie just last week and I would watch it again right now even though I still remember everything that happens.

The Adjustment Bureau: This movie blew me away in the same manner Matrix did that first time I saw it. It gives another spin on who and what controls our "fate" or "destiny". It tells a great story of a couple who this "Bureau" who controls everyone's fate says is not supposed to be together, yet they are drawn to one another like moths to a flame. I can't say any more on it. This movie rates right on up there in my top 5!

Source Code: This movie...wow this movie. This movie was so masterfully done I told every single person I know to go and watch it because I know they hadn't seen it yet. The trailer for it was not very revealing, and it left kind of an "eh" feeling to it, but I have to say. If you haven't seen this one yet...you are missing out! I think it rates higher than Butterfly effect in my books. The best way to see this movie is like how I saw it. Watch it without reading up on it or anything giving away the story at all. You won't even know what happening for sure until almost the end of the movie, and it's compelling. You just can't stop watching it!

Well that's all the movies that I was able to see that made my listing. I haven't gotten to see all of the ones I would like to see, but these are the ones that just stuck with me that I have seen. Other movies like Horrible Bosses and Real Steel I haven't gotten the chance to watch yet. Some I haven't watched in months yet I still remember them like it was yesterday they had such an impact on me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and still do!
