Believe it or not, Stephen Hawking will act in CBS’ TV comedy, The Big Bang Theory as a theoretical physicist "to share his beautiful mind with his most ardent admirer," with none other than Sheldon Lee Cooper (Jim Parsons); according to a statement made by CBS. In this short article, I will give you a small bit of information about exactly who Stephen Hawking is, his near past and what he will be up to in the act. I surely hope you like it!
Stephen Hawking’s History
Born on January 8th 1942 in Oxford but brought up in North London as a first child; Hawking always showed lots of interest in sciences especially physics. Many said his interest in science was influenced by his father, Frank Hawking a research biologist and parasitologist during all of Stephen Hawking’s life.
In university, Hawking passed all his exams brilliantly though he hardly studied for his success even until his final exams which he still passed. He joined the Oxford University in 1962 where he received his bachelors in astronomy and later on engaged in the study of theoretical astronomy and cosmology. I don’t know about what you are thinking right now, but from my point of view this guy seems like a real version of Sheldon Cooper!
By 1974 Stephen Hawking was already diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a disease which basically destroys your cells making you unable to control your muscles as you desire. He couldn’t get out of bed, feed himself or even talk properly. Nevertheless, his case is one of the best diagnosed because he has lived with the disease for all this time. A custom made wheel-chair was created for him from which he can easily communicate through a speech synthesizer; you’ll see all of it when you watch the episode.
Stephen Hawking in The Big Bang Theory
According to CBS’ statement, it has been quite a long lived dream to have Stephen Hawking in an episode of The Big Bang Theory. “Each time we have been asked who we wished to have on the show, we would say Stephen Hawking, but we never actually knew it would come to happen” they said in the press release.
Ill try not to ruin all the fun for you but according to what was said by Chuck Lorre, the executive producer, Stephen Hawking will pay Sheldon Cooper a visit at the university "to share his beautiful mind with his most ardent admirer."
Quick Wrap Up About Stephen Hawking in The Big Bang Theory
Personally, I love The Big Bang Theory especially Sheldon’s sayings plus I would love to see Stephen Hawking in the show; he is like a real life Sheldon Cooper sort of guy! Nevertheless, I truly hope you enjoyed the article and got good a background on Stephen Hawking.
Thanks for your short time :)
Great Article, I haven't seen this episode yet, but I am curious to watch it! Really is a great show once it begins to grow on you. I wasn't that interested in it at first, but after watching a few episodes I got hooked. Sheldon is a trip, sometimes I just want to slap him right across the face, Lol!
I haven't watched this show yet and knew nothing about Stephen Hawking. Thank you for providing insight into both. I think it's wonderful that the show is casting someone with his background, especially on the part that he has ALS. It makes shows more realistic that way. I'm now curious and will have to check the show out.
I watch this show sometimes. That should be an interesting episode.
nice to see someone with a disease overcome the struggle. Now he's a popular person. Oh yea, I cant wiat to watch it either
Interesting article.I read somewhere that he viewed his disability as an advantage because he could focus more on what went on in his mind!
