As a huge follower and major fan of the original Lone Ranger classic 1950's TV programme it was exciting news when I first heard about the possibility of a new Lone Ranger Movie. This is now in the making but it it still unclear when it will be finished or released?
For all of us old enough to remember either the Radio series (1933-1954), The brilliant TV series (1949-1957), the movies (The Lone Ranger, The Lone Ranger Rides Again) or even the animated series from 1966-1968, most are classics and have been repeated down through the years to generation to generation and at one point in our lives, brightened up our Saturday mornings.
The rights for the Lone Ranger are now owned by Entertainment Rights. Jerry Bruckheimer ( CSI,Beverley Hills Cop, Pirates Of The Caribbean) along with this company set up a plan with Walt Disney Productions to produce this project and find script writers.
That was back in 2007 and since then script writers and directors have been changed and some other factors have delayed the production. Finally in 2010, the director Gore Verbinski (The Mexican, The Ring, Rango) has been hired to direct the movie which was scheduled to be ready for 2012 for he is still tied to the movie Pirates of the Caribbean 4 so again it maybe stalled to 2014.
Even with all this stalling and so on, the great news for the movie, well for me personally is the news that Johnny Depp is to play the Lone Rangers faithful friend Tonto. For all Johnny Depp fans who have seen what he has done with the characters like Jack Sparrow, The Mad Hatter, Willy Wonka and the list goes on and on you easily just imagine what he will bring to one of the most famous TV 1950's characters ever, very very exciting I must say.
The mystery still wears a cloak when it comes to who will play the Lone Ranger though if the rumors are to be true, then it may just be George Clooney. Clooney and Depp on the backs of Silver and Scout absorbed in gun battles, fist fights, horse chases and hopefully the famous hair raising Lone Ranger theme tune screaming all the way through the movie really revs me up with excitement (memories of a youthful soul) and will of course introduce these two famous heroes again to a new hungry generation.
As I have seen already, even before this movie has even began filming, the merchandise for this movie has already started to pop up every where. DVD's are been purchased, posters been created and even Lone Ranger and Tonto Costumes are beginning to hit the shelves and as soon as the movie comes out you can guarantee the costume will be the one to wear at fancy dress parties.
If you are a fan of the Lone Ranger then I hope you are as excited as me. There are not may trailers for this movie yet but there is an interview with Jerry Bruckheimer were he discusses the movie and also a sneak preview of what it may look like and you can view that here at The Lone Ranger Movie Trailer.
Keep your ears open as I'm sure as soon as all the people ready to join in on this project are finished their own projects this movie will be made in no time, now, again that may be 2012 or 2014, I really wish someone would clear this up!
