10. Liar, Liar
As far as court room movies go, Liar, Liar is a must see for law students who want to know exactly how to get a proper continuance...by beating the crap out of yourself in the Mens bathroom with a toilet seat. Three years after his triple block buster play of Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber and The Mask, Jim Carry takes on a comedy that wouldn't have been more well suited for this line of work. "What is it that your Daddy does for a living Max?" ..."My Dad....is...a Liar, he goes to court and talks to the judge." Exactly. Liar, Liar films the dream of any person who's been in the same room with a real scummy lawyer...make him tell the truth for just one day of his miserable fake life.
9. Runaway Jury
Talking about lying. Each actor in this all star cast plays either a liar or righteous hero wannabe trying to expose a liar. They aren't who they say they are, except if they're the prosecution played by Dustin Hoffman. Two left wing anarchists hunt down the lawyer that brought down someone they cared about, and they are about to expose him for who he really is. This is a perfect movie to learn about how you can be totally bias and cruel when picking your jury and it's also has one of the greatest arguing match offs between legendary actors Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman.
8. A Few Good Men
"You can't handle the truth Tom! Katie Homes will never really love you, no matter how many crazy ass alien cult religions you force her into!" Jack Nicholson definitely said that. The entire movie it seems, takes place in a court room, yet Joe Pesci isn't any where to be found, Pesci should be in every court, period. This is one of the only court room movies in which you'll be likely to see a military trial. This is another all star cast, but in this one, it's Keifer is on the other side of the interrogation to see just what a code red is and how much it hurts.
7. Kramer Vs. Kramer
If this movie doesn't make you hate Meryl Streep...then you're probably Meryl Streep. Not only does she play a cold-hearted witch who tries to steal her kids away just for spite from one of the best father's in a movie played again by Dustin Hoffman, but she also won the Academy Award for best actress in a leading role, just one of like 18 nominations or some crap. Hoffman plays a goodhearted father who's trying his best to raise his child and maintain his already difficult career, while being bullied basically for money by his soon to be ex-wife in court. The court scenes in this movie are captivating and true, making this number 7 on the list.
6. To Kill a Mockingbird
Based on the book by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is about a lawyer caught in the middle of what seems to be a hopeless racially biased case in which an innocent man's life is on the chopping block. Atticus Finch is the lawyer and the very interesting and imaginative parts to this story is that his daughter, Scout is actually the lead character. This horribly unjust case and the absolute pure hatred that Atticus faces is seen directly through the eyes of an innocent and pure little girl. Completely riddled with metaphors and anecdotes, To Kill a Mockingbird explains the greatest definition of the loss of innocence by shooting this 1962 masterpiece in Black and white...very suiting, very smart.
