Around the World in 80 Plates Debuts
Bravo network has done it again with the series premiere of Around the World in 80 Plates. The show follows 12 chefs as they compete in teams around the world and take over local restaurants in this cooking competition with a twist (Think Amazing Race meets Top Chef meets Survivor). Around the World in 80 Plates promises the drama I have come to love which seems unavoidable when you gather a group of already competitive Chefs together for a high stakes challenge, in this case $150,00 while providing an ever changing backdrop.
Another new twist to this food competition is the locals from each city decide what team wins and members of the losing team vote on which member of their team will be eliminated. This batch of chefs is filled with strong and unique personalities which makes for great TV. Hosting the international cooking challenge Around the World in 80 Plates each week are celebrity chefs Curtis Stone and Cat Cora whom I did not recognize with her sassy short, blonde hair.
The mini challenge for episode one required the Chefs to race to three pubs in London and scarf down bar food and beer. The losing team received a serious handicap during the main challenge when the teams learn they have to recreate the dishes they tasted during their pub crawl and the losing team will not be able to use one of the major ingredients in all three dishes.
After watching the series premiere I know I will be tuning in next week, will you? Around the World in 80 Plates airs Wednesdays at 10PM on Bravo after Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis (one of my favorites). If you hung around after the show s debut for Watch What Happens Live then you already know the President Obama receive the Mazel of the Day from Andy Cohen for his public support of same-sex marriages.
Are You Ready For Another Music TV Series?
It is just like deja vu with the increasing onslaught of music based television series. The reality TV show craze started the same way with one break out hit on one network, and then multiple reality television shows took over network after network until reality TV dominated prime-time programming
The FOX network started the trend with their musical series Glee after repeated success with music reality competition shows. Now the creator of the FOX music TV show hit American Idol is teaming up with production and distribution powerhouse Lionsgate for a new music TV series. Simon Fuller and Lionsgate are partnering up to bring a drama series focused on a Rock and Roll band to the small screen. The search for talent to capture the band of rock stars is currently underway. So are you ready for another music TV show?
