Every Halloween thousands of little girls dress up as their favorite Disney princess. Off they go to trick or treat or attend a costume party. Most of those little girls probably chose their costume according to their favorite Disney princess movie, but wouldn't it be more fun to match their personality to the princess.
So let's explore some princesses and their different personalities. Then you can decide which one matches your little princess!
Snow White - Snow White was Disney's first princess. The story is based on a German fairy tale written by the brothers Grimm. The Disney version, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, premiered in 1937. It follows the story of the fair princess, Snow White. Her evil stepmother, The Queen, is jealous when her magic mirror tells her Snow White is the fairest in the land. When the Queen instructs a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, he finds he can't do the deed. He tells her to run away.
Snow White finds the home of seven dwarfs who take her in. But things take a turn for the worse when the Queen discovers she is alive and disguised as a wizened old woman she poisons the unsuspecting princess. The spell puts her to sleep. She can only be awakened by love's true kiss. Of course, she gets that kiss from a passing prince she had met earlier in the story.
Snow White has a very sweet and trusting personality. She sees the good in everyone. She accepts and loves the dwarfs despite their isolation and clumsy social skills. If your little princess is sweet and trusting and loves to sing in a falsetto voice, Snow White is the perfect match!
Ariel, The Little Mermaid - The Little Mermaid was first released in 1989. It is based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. The story follows a beautiful young mermaid who longs to be human. After Ariel saves Prince Eric from drowning, she makes a deal with evil sea witch, Ursula. Ursula agrees to make her human for three days in exchange for her beautiful voice. Ariel must get Prince Eric to kiss her in the three days or she will belong to Ursula.
Ariel has a very inquisitive personality. She is also very impetuous and full of adventure. So if your little princess asks tons of questions and is the exploring, adventurous type Ariel is the match for her.
Belle, Beauty and the Beast - Based on a french fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont. Disney released Beauty and the Beast in 1991. It tells the story of a young girl named Belle who lives in a small village. Belle loves to read and always has her nose in a book.
Her father gets lost in the woods and comes upon a castle. The castle belongs to a prince who has been put under a spell. He has been transformed into a beast. The spell can only be broken if someone falls in love with him.
The Beast imprisons Belle's father in his dungeon. Belle learns of her father's plight and trades herself for her father. During the course of her stay, she comes to love the Beast and the spell is broken.
Belle is the shy, studious type. If your princess would rather read a book than watch TV then she might be a great Belle match.
Rapunzel - Tangled is the story of Rapunzel. Rapunzel is a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It tells the story of a young girl, Rapunzel, who was kidnapped as a baby by an old enchantress, Mother Gothel, Gothel wants the baby for her magical hair. The healing properties of her hair keeps the enchantress young.
When a young thief, Flynn, takes refuge in the tower where Gothel keeps Rapunzel hidden, he provides her a chance for escape. She bravely decides to go with Flynn and their adventure begins. Eventually she is reunited with her parents, the King and Queen.
Rapunzel has been isolated so she is suspicious of people. She questions their motives. She is also curious about the world outside her tower. She is brave and exuberant. She is also very artistic. So if your princess leans a little to the skeptical side, has an artistic flair and loves to experience new things, she is a definite Rapunzel.
Sofia the First - This animated series is on the Disney Channel. It follows the story of young Sofia. She becomes a princess when her mother marries the King.
Sofia has to learn how to be a princess. She has three fairy godmothers, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather to teach her about being a princess. Sleeping Beauty also makes appearances to help Sofia.
She learns that looking like a princess is easy but it is what is inside that makes you a true princess. Sofia learns kindness, generosity, loyalty and grace are the true qualities of a princess.
Sofia is like a lot of regular children. She has become part of a new family. She has a new stepfather and is learning a new family dynamic. She is eager to learn and to fit into her new family. She loves animals and is very kind. If Sofia reminds you of your own princess then she would be the perfect personality match.
These are only a few of the princess personality choices. Try some of your own. Test your princess for her perfect princess personality fit! Let me know in the comments which is your favorite Disney princess.
