How to Find A Mover on the Internet

In the past, finding a mover meant you got a word-of-mouth recommendation, or you went through the phone book, calling up a bunch of numbers, asking numerous questions, in hopes of finding a reputable company. Thank goodness for the digital age, and the advent of the internet.

Now, you can go to your nearest computer, type movers into your search engine, and results will pour forth. You still have to take the time to go through the different options available to you, but it's easier than ever to locate the nearest professionals. This article will guide you through the process of finding a mover on the internet, so that you are sure to get the best moving company possible for your next relocation.

How to Find Movers on the Internet

--The first step, as mentioned above, is to head to your nearest internet search engine. From there, type the word "movers" and the name of your city into the search engine, i.e. "Los Angeles movers" if you're in Los Angeles. The results should be a combination of company websites, and peer-review sites. You want to first look at company websites, so you should carefully scroll through the results and pick out sites for five to ten companies.

--Examine the company websites, certain information needs to be displayed clearly: licensing numbers and info, a telephone number, and the physical address for the company's facility. If any of the abovementioned info is not listed on the site, you should move on to the next one. Specifically, avoid any company that does not list its licensing information, as that is required by law. Also, ignore bells and whistles, as a good company these do not make.

--Once you've found a few acceptable websites, it's time to check the peer-review sites that are out there. But, and this is certainly a big but, do not read too heavily into the content that is on peer-review websites. These sites can be easily manipulated to make a company look good or bad; however, they are helpful for developing a broad idea of how a company operates. Also, if the review site has filtered reviews (usually listed below the displayed reviews) you should read those as well, because they will help sculpt your impression of the company.

--After you've scanned the company sites, and examined the peer-review content, it's time to gather quotes from the acceptable companies. At minimum, get quotes from three companies so that you can see what the rates are across the board for the services you need. Getting multiple quotes can also start a bidding war for your move, which will certainly work in your favor. Make sure that you schedule on-site estimates, a service that should be completely free, as that is the only way to get a binding, "not to exceed" moving quote. Additionally, these quotes allow the company to get an accurate idea of what it will take to complete the move, which will simplify the process.

--The last step is to consult the Public Utilities Commission website for your state, as well as, the Department of Transportation website. These are the regulating bodies tasked with governing the moving industry, and they keep detailed records on licensing and bonding information, as well as, on any complaints or incidents a company might have had in the past. They will let you know whether you have found a trustworthy, reputable moving company, or not. Additionally, the websites can provide moving related information that may prove invaluable as you go through the relocation process.

You are now prepared to find a moving company on the internet. There are many ways to find a mover, but this is sure to be the most efficient, and convenient method. Remember to trust your gut instincts when choosing a company, and always do your research. There are great moving companies in every city in America, so don't worry, you'll find the right movers for you.
