'Ever wished you had started something earlier in life? Most of us certainly have and If we could just turn back the hands of time, right? This article is dedicated to those who wished they started guitaring' a little sooner in life......Okay, maybe a lot sooner in life, so at the conclusion of our discussion, be honest and think to yourself whether or not some of the content here related to you.
I could never find the time. When you think back, did you make excuses for not learning guitar? Well, it didnt seem like an excuse at the time beacuse I'm sure you really could not find the time......On the other hand, we could be missing out on something big if we do not take a second look at endeavors we feel that we don't have time for. Now when I say, "something big", I don't necessarily mean or suggest that you would have made it as a big time musician by now, had you gotten serious about music earlier in life but the possibility was always there.
Make the time now. You won't regret it! Obviously, music is one of the arts.....and I will say this with all confidence that musicians, among other artists are known to think out side of the box or lets say, to look at things somewhat differently, not in a negative way but just maybe using different deminsional concepts, like an artist that peers at the forest and see's the same images as you but maybe seeing them in some sort of abstract way. Does that make any sense?
Why not challenge yourself, find someone to instruct you and just jump right into it! But to be quite honest, there are excuses waiting.....lol. Ignore them, they'll go away once your enthusiasm grows, you'll see. Another thing is that your skill level will increase as long as you devote time to it, yes it is quite the fair exchange, time and a little sacrifice add to your investment as a guitarist, simple as that.
What about expensive equipment? Instruments and equipment can be as expensive as you want them to be but you don't have to blow the bank to get started. You can find a guitar for cheap prices these days.....and you don't even have to compromise a decent quality instrument. Your local music store has guitars ready to go. You could talk to the salesperson in the guitar department, who is usually a guitarist him/her self and just put your cards on the table.....Heck, he may even offer to give you private lessons.
You should also be able to find an inexpensive amp for guitar, something small to keep prices reasonable. You will determine all by yourself when it is time to upgrade, you see, you will start to develope a need for a certain sound, perhaps your favorite guitarist has this particular sound.....Oh yea! you can get that sound and the look to go with it for a price, my friend.
It is always a pleasure to watch a student building a guitar identy of his/her very own, to see the student progress to a point where they develop a passion that never dies within them. Music has filled a void in my personal life that was not predicated on when I started but whenever I would get started, so remember friend, if you are still not ready to pick up that guitar, just do so when you are ready and undoubedly the art will embrace you as if it waited patiently for you to embrace it. Be safe and best wishes to you.
