If you are looking for a great amp for your acoustic guitar, then look no further than the Fishman Loudbox Mini PRO LBX 500. It is a top seller in all audio shops and can be used by the beginner and pro alike. Whether you use it for practicing by yourself or for jamming with others, you won't find a better amp for reinforcing your acoustic instrument.
It is the most easily transported amp in the Loudbox collection, weighing in at less than 20 lbs but it has the power capability to fill up a small venue where folk and more small intimate gigs take place.
The amp provides a really natural sound and has two channels with easy to use equalisation so you can get the most out of it no matter where you play.
The on board effects consist of the usual reverb and chorus on the instrument channel and there is an XLR input so you can plug in a microphone. There is a reverb effect available on this signal path if you do connect a mic. There is also an auxiliary (1/4 inch and 1/8 inch) which allows you to connect an MP3 player or a metronome for practice purposes.
There is no need for a direct injection box as the XLR direct output allows you to send a balanced professional mic level signal to a mixing desk and also allows you to have on stage monitoring if you need it.
The equalisation section is 2 band on a microphone input (low and high) and 3 band on the instrument channel.
The connection for your instrument is a 1/4 inch jack and the mic input is capable of taking a condenser microphone which is self powered or an XLR input dynamic microphone of your preference.
The tonal quality out of the Fishman Loudbox Mini is reproduced as if you were just playing your acoustic guitar in your living room with no amplification - in other words, as flat as can be with no colour when all of the dials are set to unity. If you are looking for a wide selection of on board effects, you are not going to get it with this amp. There are not that many acoustic performers that wish to have the sound of their acoustic instrument distorted anyway as its all about the audience being present so really you would just use a touch of reverb and leave the fancy effects to virtuoso rock guitarists. If you want to spend twice as much in order to get the added effects, you can, but realistically, you wouldn't really need it for intimate gigs which is what acoustic music is all about.
When you go to buy an amplifier, you need to have an idea of what you are going to use it for. As this amp is 60 watts, you are not going to be accompanying any hard rock acts but, as mentioned, it is by far the best amplifier for an acoustic guitarist. This means you can practice at home or play to a handful of people in quiet intimate gigs with 100 people or thereabouts with no problems. These are the type of gigs an acoustic guitarist would play anyway. The reason the Fishman Loudbox Mini Acoustic Guitar Amplifier is the best selling in its class is that for price and quality of sound, you will not find a better amp for your acoustic guitar in the same price range.
