Peavey amplifiers have been synonymous with aggressive sounding music for over 15 years and has now developed their 6505 amp in a 1 x 12 combo. The new Peavey 6505 112 has the same amazing tone and high volume that has defined rock guitar into a unit that you can use anywhere from home studios to live venues.
The amp has five pre amp tubes and two power amp tubes which give the tone quality and easy accessible pots allow you to adjust all parameters such as EQ (3 band), pre/post gain, presence and resonance quickly and easily. There is also a rhythm channel which includes a crunch boost that can be implemented by a foot switch.
The Peavey 6505 112, as you would expect from Peavey, is packed with added features such as the ability to loop effects, a 3 spring reverb for adding that sense of space, outputs to external speakers and given that it is 60 Watts, you will be amazed at the raw power it has.
An excellent feature is that this amp has a function for routing your amp straight into a DAW or mixer so that you do not need to worry about putting microphones on the front and back (or just the front or back depending on the sound you want.)
It looks fantastic, you can't wait just to plug it in and get playing but, if this is going to be your first tube amp, you must allow the tubes to warm up.
As well as this amp looking brilliant, you obviously want a great sound. The Peavey 6505 Plus 112 amplifier does not disappoint. If this is going to be your first foray into the world of tube power, you will find the tonal qualities of the sound produced do not have any hiss or hum even when the gain is right up and far outplays any solid state amps you may have used for that hard metal sound.
When it comes to using the amp to model the sound yourself, you do not really need to use the manual, just have a mess around with the settings until you find the sound you want as the controls are really intuitive as you are able to hear what every knob does clearly.
The amplifier is built with the usual Peavey quality and is extremely durable for life on the road even though it is a tube amp. You do need to take care of it though - no crashing it around! It plays brilliantly, and the The Peavey 6505 Plus 112 Guitar Combo Amplifier will be a valuable addition to any set up whether you are a beginner guitarist, a virgin tube amp person or a seasoned pro. The price also helps it to be attainable by most.
