Blues scales are the foundation stones for several popular blues songs. These blues scales enable formulation of some very lovely and awesome guitar solos that are loved by one and all. But when it comes to blues guitar scales there are some essential tips that you should be aware of. Thus, if you want to play blue scales proficiently this article may be helpful to you.

The first step to play blues guitar scales is learning the Pentatonic Scale. This scale can produce a very hard hitting sound effect, it is used several musicians to spice up their performances.This scale when used in combination with pull-offs, hammer-ons and blues scale can produce such an awesome effect that will surely mesmerize your audience.

For an instance in case of the A key, you should play the 5th fret and the 8th fret on the E string (low). Play the 5th and7th on A, D and G string and then play the 5th, 8th fret on B and E (high) strings.

Now coming back to the blues guitar scales, you just need to make an addition of one extra note. An extra note has to be added to The Pentatonic Scale.

This time you will definitely play the 5th and 8th fret of the E string (low); you will play the fifth, sixth and seventh fret of A string; the 5th and 7th of the D string; the 5th, 7th, 8th fret of the G string; and the 5th, 8th fret of the E and B string.

Mentioned above are some letters and numbers. The letters or Alphabets indicate the guitar strings and the numbers represent the frets on the fret board of the guitar for you to place your fingers. Ensure playing each note separately and in continuity and then go through the entire scale pattern slowly.

You need a good deal of practice when it comes to mastering the blues guitar scales. You must get familiar with the sound of the notes, the music and symphony of the scale and the methods of incorporating blues guitar scales in context of a song.

Playing the blues scales in context of song will give you an insight of the sound of the notes of the blues guitar scales, its flavor and musical symphony.
