Well if you're anything like me you can wonder around for hours online and then after wasting at least an hour of your time you try to remember why you switched the computer on in the first place and exactly what it is you are looking for! That is precisely what happened to me when I decided I wanted to find acoustic guitar lessons online. I actually ended up on a site selling chess lessons for adults! Yep that's how crazy it can get.
So hopefully I am going to give you five important tips on how to stay focused when searching online.
Tip #1. Write what it is you are going on line to look for on a piece of paper or a sticky note that you can stick somewhere in front of you. This will help you stay focused on the mission in mind.
Tip # 2. When you get to a site that is pretty much what you are looking for then if it looks really good, bookmark it in case you get lost later on and don't know the way back.
Tip # 3. Give yourself a time limit of let's say 15 minutes online to find what it is you are looking for. This will keep you from being distracted and suddenly finding yourself on Facebook or elsewhere.
Tip # 4. In our example of looking for online acoustic guitar lessons you need to remember that the time you spend searching on line will ultimately be taken from the time left available to learn to play the guitar. This should be a big motivator as your time is valuable and unfortunately the computer tends to steal hours away from us everyday.
Tip # 5. There are lots of free lessons available online and you have to be careful to find the right course and stick with it. It's so easy to get distracted by the 'shiny' stuff and sort of get pulled in to every new scheme that promises you to play like a pro in 7 days. That is simply not possible and a load of rubbish.
However difficult if may be to find the right online acoustic guitar lessons, they definitely do exist. Yes in between the garbage that is out there you can find some great lessons that will help you to succeed. There are also lots of sites out there that review these lessons after having tried them so you know exactly what you are getting from 'the horses mouth'.
In my opinion that is the best way to find the right guitar lessons, try to find the review sites and read carefully what they have to say, the pros and the cons, and then make an intelligent decision if the lessons offered are suited to you.
Good information. It is indeed difficult to learn to play guitar if you get distracted by other things, including the Internet.
This will help me a great deal when I start my classes. Thanks Hani
Great tips! I didn't do some of those things before when I was learning but those are really better.
