There are a lot of ways to run your studio. People do things according to their liking. Some have a studio just to have one, some operate their studio as a business. What ever the case may be, one thing to keep in mind is, you have to stay organized. Staying organized seems easy but it can be a difficult task, especially if your studio has high traffic. Clutter builds up as you work, so get in the routine of doing a quick clean as you go. Another thing, you don't want to have sodas and different types of foods around your computer that puts your equipment in risk of accidents. I use to always have to clean a lot of trash in my studio because of slacking off and letting things build. Here are some things you can go out and grab to help you stay organized.
White Board
You can keep track of things you have going on or things you need to remember. Its a good way to be reminded of tasks or even bills. A white board is definitley a must have for me in my studio.
Calender
A calender will help a lot. There's been times when I forgot about events I was planning on attending, sometimes my mind is in the clouds. Having a calender makes you feel in control of your day to day.
Trash Basket
A lot if people dont have trash baskets in their studio. I go to a lot of them to know so. Its just something that gets over looked until you start getting a lot of traffic on and out the studio, and big messes are left to clean, keep your studio neat, get a trash basket.
Enough Desk Space
Having enough desk space is a must for any studio. Things can easily fall off an break. Worst, your computer can fall off and you dont want that. I would invest in a nice size desk, doesn't have to be expensive, just big enough to hold important things on. You will be having things like, speakers, monitors, sound drives and a lot of others. Make sure your desk fits to the size you need.
White board, calender, trash basket enough desk space, these are some basic ways to keep your studio organized and neat. Dont fall victom to a trashy studio, we all do from time to time. Use basic things like these and you can make good music in comfort.
