Music is a soother to the soul. Where would I be without it. Music relieves my stress.
If I am feeling angry about a situation it will calm my mood. I could sit for hours playing the piano. It is amazing how there are limitless amounts of music to learn. I could learn a new song everyday of my life until my death and I still would not know every song. There are so many different genres. I enjoy them all. I enjoy watching other people talents. I am great at seeing their God given talents in music. It stands out. I always feel led to ask them their name and telephone number. Everyone has something to share musically. It doesn’t matter how long they have been doing music. It is very fascinating to me. Ten people can play the same song with the same exact chords, but each one will have their own style of delivering it. That fascinates me.
I love to play chords on the piano. As a child I liked to read hymns and play them. I didn’t learn how to play by ear until I became an adult around 19 years old. That was a big challenge. That seemed like a dream. I didn’t understand what to listen for. After a long time of watching other musicians that I befriended, I trained myself to hear the base line and then I figured out how to match the chords. One day my friend was telling me what she learned in music class. She had learned how to sing “Do Ti Do”. That lesson is with me for life. I listen for the “Do Ti Do” in anything that I am trying to learn by ear. I understand that if I sing “Do Ti Do” then “Do” is the key that I need. And then of course realizing whether it is minor or major. I only play one instrument. I know that it is never to late too learn others. I think that it is wonderful when a musician can play a lot of different instruments. That takes a lot of dedication. It makes them more valuable. They can get all the calls for a gig because they can fit in anywhere in a live band situation.
Everyday it is important that I remember to incorporate music in my day. I don’t ever want to lose it or forget about it. I know that I would be sick without it.
