With the vast choice of Ukuleles around, buying your first Ukulele can be a hard and daunting experience and probably lead you to buy the first one you see or hold and this could be a disaster if you do not know what you are buying.
It is very important to know about Ukuleles with facts like the size, make and type and also the price, stay well away from very cheap Ukuleles as these are more ornaments with brutal sound and perfect for your mantle piece. Know your Ukulele and you can find a lot of places be it shops or online where you can find a quality Ukulele. Here are some quick tips...
Size Of Ukulele!
Very important before you buy one. A small Ukulele has a higher tone and is perfect for strumming but more for kids as a larger size produces louder sounds and is better for finger picking and difficult chord playing.
Type Of Ukulele!
There are four types of Ukuleles, Soprano (small standard size perfect for beginners), Tenor (largest or traditional Uke's and popular with professional musicians) Concert (a little bigger than the soprano and smaller that a tenor, great if you have big hands) Baritone (largest Ukulele and popular with guitar players).
Where To Buy Your Ukulele?
As there are many options, my best advice is to go to your local music store, one that sells Ukuleles and ask a lot of questions, get a feel for each type, see which you get the best feel for and which feels most comfortable and if you are like me as you have the Ukulele in your hand you will become very excited but do not rush in to buying it.
As a newbie learning to play Ukulele it is easy to get carriecd away with the first Ukulele you come across. Unfortunately a lot of stores do not have many (a lot have none at all) and the choice can be slim, so if you come across one you may like, take down the type and size as I have discussed above and buy it online as there are tons of reputable site that specialize in Ukuleles that deliver with in twenty four hours, and you will have a huge choice of the type you have decided to go with.
How Much?
Do not stress on the price. Ukuleles as musical instruments go are very reasonable so do not go for the cheapest or the most expensive. Most are around the same price. Stay away from bright plastic looking models, spend around 100 – 150 dollars on a Ukulele (possible to get cheaper) but having a quality one in the end will be of more help than a useless cheap one.
Make sure if you decide to buy it online that the site has a costumer support line where you can ask questions. Most top sites have costumer support and even Amazon sells quality Ukuleles now so again it is easy to buy and have delivered online.
Remember, know your type of Ukulele before you buy and go for quality especially if it is your first. You can view some different types of Quality Ukuleles here at our Ukulele Site and get a feel for the type of excellent Ukuleles you can purchase online. Ukuleles are a wonderful instrument with a beautiful melodic sound and because of the huge amount of people beginning to play the Ukulele it is now easier than ever to pic up a quality one. Happy Playing!
