Building a successful business, whether a home-based business or a brick-and-mortar business like a restaurant, for example, is all about building relationships. People want to know who they are dealing with before they start any kind of business relationship. That's true whether it's a customer in a restaurant, or someone wanting to buy something online. How many times have you sought a review of a product or service before you purchased it online? Or asked around about a restaurant's food, service, or ambiance before deciding to try it out?

We all do it! It's in our nature. We are sociable beings, who thrive on forming bonds and relationships with others.

So that is why I am amazed at how many people I talk with, who own a home business, are not utilizing webinar software to grow their business. It seems they are still stuck in the "stone age" of networking where they use the telephone and email services to communicate with their associates and potential customers.

Did you know that statistics show that it usually takes 7 emails to a potential customer regarding a product or service before they decide to purchase? Why?

Because people want to become familiar with whom they are dealing with before transacting any business with them.

Don't get me wrong! The telephone and email are still vital marketing tools in any home business, but adding a webinar solution to your repertoire is essential for several reasons.

Webinars provide a way to introduce yourself and your product and service in a much more personal way. People who join your webinar can see you on the screen and it allows them to develop a level of comfort with you. It's called KLT (Know, Like, and Trust). Have you ever listened to a radio host or DJ on the radio and wondered what they looked like? Often times when you finally do see a picture of them or meet them in person, they don't look anything like you imagined! But once you do you build a bond with them in your mind. For some reason you feel closer to them. The same thing happens when webinar software is used. If people can see you they feel like you're not some behind-the-scenes, anonymous person hiding behind an email address or a telephone call. You're a real live breathing individual.

Good webinar software will also allow your vistors to tallk with you or one another via a chat room. Again, this adds credibility and allows your vistors to develop a relationship with you. There may also be a "Talk" feature so that you can allow vistors to join your conversation.They can see that you're allowing real-time interaction and are being transparent with whatever it is you are presenting.

Which brings us to the power of webinar software, which is that you can present whatever it is you want to promote. You can usually do this via Powerpoint presentations, video, and, with some webinar software, with a blackboard that allows you to write just like with a piece of chalk.

In addition, good webinar software will allow you to also share your desktop so that your visitors can see your computer screen.

I would also recommend that you look for a webinar software that allows you to direct your attendees to a particular website when they exit the software. This will allow you to try to close the deal after the webinar is over. This technique is very effective since the content you just presented is fresh on your attendee's mind and they are more likely to convert.

Prices vary so be sure to shop around and compare features and price. Some are $100 or more a month while others with comparable features are less than $10 a month. I would also recommend that you look for one that has an affiliate program so you can earn commissions by referring others to the software. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to earn some extra revenue from promoting a product that you are using yourself.
