Big Rock Posters News for Olympia\'s Art Walk 2013

There are plenty of rock posters news items posted today. Coming off of the Psychedelic Science 2013 conference that ended on Tuesday in Oakland California; we will now travel up to Washington State. Here we find the Olympia's Art Walk happening for two days April 26 and 27, that this Friday and Saturday in Olympia,WA.

This is one of the biggest arts festivals you'll find anywhere. There is way too much happening to cover in our one little article. But, we'll try and give you some highlights of celebrations that are relevant to our normal rock posters news.

Galleries & Events

Childhoods In The Gallery, Lets Paint!, Fulcrum Gallery, The Tacoma Art Museum are very unique to the Pacific Northwest. Some showcasing pieces made in America from regional artists, to fun and serious art hub-spots. All giving support and proving Olympia as a strong cultural and arts center.

Olyphant Art Supply - Downtown Olympia, WA

This celebration of the walk concerns our rock posters news more than any of the others. Tom Anderson (Olympia artist and child of the 60s) has a studio downtown above the Olyphant Art Supply. In it, he has a huge collection of rock concert and psychedelic posters from that era.

The owners of Olyphant Art Supply (JB Baldridge and Nick Baldridge) were looking for a way to get their framing business off the ground. Anderson suggested using some of the 60s posters and displaying them in a show room not being used.

So now, this is a big part of the Olympia's Art Walk displaying mostly original posters of Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blue Cheer, Miles Davis and many, many more.

Also, there are some great stories about famous people that come along with Anderson's grand psychedelic poster collection. “Some of the 60s psychedelic posters that have hung in museums over past few years are presented here”–Tom Anderson.

Procession of The Species Parade - The Main Event

Celebration of cultural exchanges between us including art, dance and music in-sync with nature. Elevating the human spirit thru creating , imagination and sharing. This is a joyous and colorful parade as you can imagine.

These are only but a handful of events taking place at the Olympia's Art Walk 2013 this weekend. Although the rock posters news here is very important to us, it's only a fraction of the many shows taking place. I would encourage you to search and check out some of these galleries websites outside of this article. Immerse yourself in some of the Pacific Northwest art I have discovered in writing this piece. It's exquisite!

Who Made the Original Rock Posters?
It's kind of an open question. Because original rock posters could have come from various sources depending on your perspective.
