Brad Womack and Emily Maynard engaged. To many, this was the fairy tale ending... but now that the season is over and true reality hits, their engagement has many viewers wondering if it will truly last?
Tonight's two and a half hour finale episode of ABC's The Bachelor drew an impressive 15.5 million viewers. Amongst these millions, most were without a doubt pro Emily". And, the ending turned out to be exactly what was predicted right from the start with Brad Womack and Emily Maynard engaged. If you didn't catch the show you missed some very sentimental moments and for once, the proposal did not come off as a fake, producer-calls-the-shots kind of moment. In fact Brad, who came in to the 15th season without the best track record (did you see him on Season 11?!) truly stole the scene and showed what many are calling true emotions for his new fiancée, the stunning Emily.
However, it was the After The Rose special that aired right after that now has many people wondering if their relationship will be able to make it through real life. When Emily Maynard came out without wearing her engagement ring this was a shocker. The discussion that was lead by the host, Chris Harrison, was awkward at times and the gasps coming from the audience members definitely made for some unexpected moments.
With Brad Womack and Emily Maynard engaged at the end of the finale episode, fans were anticipating a love-bird reunion on After The Rose. This wasn't so much the case. But, if you take the fairy tale out and replace real life back in, it is almost refreshing to see that their relationship seems REAL. They admit to fights and bickering, insecurities and even a little jealousy on the part of Emily who, over the last few months had to spend every Monday night watching her beau kiss and cuddle with dozens of other women, most notably the runner up, Chantal O.
But when it all boils down to it, drama creates ratings... and we all know, reality t.v. is a far cry from true reality. No, this does not discount the fact that Brad and Emily apparently fell in love. However, critics and even die hard fans of The Bachelor can admit that to know someone for 6 weeks, and to become engaged over television is a more than unique situation. Now that the glitz and glam of the t.v. show has come to an end, their "love" will be really be put to the test. The ending of Brad Womack and Emily Maynard engaged is what the fans hoped for, and the two of them deserve to find their happiness. Let's just hope they can join the very small list of those who have actually made it after finding love on ABC's The Bacherlor and The Bacherlorette.
