Do We Have the Right to Loot What is anarchy 1. The complete absence of government 2. Political disorder and violence; lawlessness 3. Disorder in any sphere of activity; stated in the Webster’s New World College Dictionary. What is happening in England is deplorable in the name of law. At this point it is “copycat violence” to an already sensitive situation. Here is what we are forgetting, a man by the name of Mark Duggan was shot and killed by police on August 4, 2011. At first it was a peaceful demonstration in front of the police station wanting answers to his death. People at this point decided that it was an opportunity to be heard on the socioeconomics of the countries affairs on unemployment and cuts to the budget for the working class. Wait a second why are faceting these two incidents together? One is the miscarriage of justice and the other is one that the world over is experiences, the downturn in the economics of the people.
So again I question what the people are rioting for. In my opinion is sheer anarchism. These people do not want answers to the economics of the country they want something for nothing. I understand that they are bombarded with commercials for the newest designer clothing, that flat screen TV and the most up to date electronics. Were we not brought up to work for what you want? Save that penny in the penny jar. Have we forgotten all our morals and values for the sake of destroying somebody else’s livelihood?
These anarchists are not demonstrating at the government offices for answers or the police station in Tottenham, England. They have taken it upon themselves to get the answers for themselves by creating carnage across the country. These anarchist have all the answers, take what you want and do not accept the repercussions later. They have forgotten that their mother and father worked to put food on the table and clothes on their back.
Why do we need the newest designer clothes and most up to date electronics? It is a status symbol. These people do not work for what they want; they want that hand out and expect to not give anything back in return. Have we become that selfish in society, maybe so. There may not be a luxury job but you start somewhere. My first job was as a retail travel agent making £ 11 a week, but I was grateful for it until something else came along that was better. Eventually I resigned from American Express as a Corporate Travel Consultant which I exceeded at. So maybe these selfish people have to work a less glamorous job at least that is employment that brings in those pennies you can save, for those new Nikes and Samsung flat screen TV.
With all this lawlessness we have forgotten the issue at hand. A man was killed by police officers. Yes, he was armed with a gun, which is not allowed to be carried by civilians outside of a gun club in England. I am not justifying his death by no means should anybody be shot and killed by police officers. Over the weekend we had a police shooting in Phoenix, Arizona where I reside and there were no riots and yet we are having the same socioeconomic issues. There are just no jobs and the economy is at its worst from what I can remember. I have $10.00 to last till next till month so should I question authority and take it upon myself to loot and destroy somebody else’s livelihood? I think not. What is there to gain? Somehow the loss profit from this irresponsibility has to be made up somewhere and that my friend is going to be you and me, paying more on commodities we need for everyday life.
Let the police do the inquest to death of this young man and let the police commission do a proper job without prejudice on getting the answers as to who shot who first. The sad point at hand is that this only going to fuel the fire that maybe and I say maybe that Mr. Duggan was shot without ever firing a single shot. Let those responsible be held accountable not take upon ourselves to judge and jury and wreak havoc where we should have peaceful demonstrations to get those answers we want.
