Even In Death Do People Continue Their Search for Bin Laden?

There have been many nations as well as those in the United States who feel that Osama Bin Laden might not have actually been killed in the May second raid on his compound. Dismissed largely as conspiracy theories, those doubts still plague the White House in newspapers and blogs everywhere. A California salvage diver has announced that he might have a solution to those doubts. That man, Bill Warren, has plans to go to the Arabian Sea, find the dead terrorist leader’s body and photograph it. He did not say what he intended to do with the body after he was done getting photos.

Warren, who has found well over 200 shipwrecks during his salvage career, plans to start his search sometime in July, taking two weeks to search. The cost of his mission is expected to be over $400,000, including costs for renting a ship in India plus renting a remote controlled submarine. That sub will help him search the depths of the waters before actually diving into the water. The photo proof is necessary, Warren has said because there are just too many questions left unanswered, his mission was announced to the New York Post with most of his details already in place.

The salvage diver’s plans may remind people of those of a construction worker from Colorado who tried to “get” Bin Laden while he was alive, in June of 2010. That man, Gary Faulkner, is a construction worker with a criminal history who was arrested in the forest of Pakistan armed with nothing more than a pistol, sword and night vision goggles. The fifty year old, Faulkner had already been to Pakistan six other times, all with the same goal in mind and had continued to fail at his mission. During an interview after returning to the United States, Faulkner said that he did intend to return and then hinted that he was getting help from Pakistan’s government, military and/or the locals.

Faulkner had gone so far as to grow his beard longer so that he would not appear out of place.

Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States had been sought fiercely, escaping a number of close calls before finally being pinned down in his compound in Pakistan. There were questions raised about the immediate burial at sea as well as the White House decision not to release the photographs of the body. President Barack Obama chose not to allow the photos to be published for public viewing based on the graphic nature of them.

Bin Laden was buried at sea to avoid the risk of having a grave site which would become a shrine. It is also Islamic tradition that a body be buried as quickly as possible, hence the hasty at sea burial less than twenty four hours after the raid was carried out. There are still questions being asked, questions that Warren seeks to finally and definitively answer.
