How To Make Mother Earth Smile? Every Day, Not Only On Earth Day April 22, 2012

Greed. Pollution. Greenhouse Effect. Global warming. Depletion of natural resources. Nuclear. Starvation. Water Shortage. “Natural Disaster.”

Perhaps, these phrases may not have a huge impact on your daily life. While some of these ideas may be intense, there are yet simple small changes you can implement in your daily life that may minimize your impact on the world's resources.

How to make Mother Earth smile?

Clean Air. Fresh Water. Abundant Resources. Plain Food. Simple Living. Nature Friendly. Organic Farming. Natural Products. Pure Life.

Nature has always been there for us, providing for our needs, and more often pleasing our wants. Yet, we have been using and abusing Nature. When Nature aches because of our actions, not only we get hurt, but we are putting others and other species at danger, too. That's not the way to live. But we do it anyway, mostly to satisfy our wants. It's time to give back and pay respect to Mother Nature for all the good deeds that were given to us and which are often taken for granted.

To make Mother Earth smile does not take much effort. There are many simple ways to put a smile on Her face.

Invite Her for organic lunch.

The simplest thing is to start with is by eating organic foods. Using your backyard as a vegetable garden is a great way to stay close to Nature. You can use your food waste as a compost to fertilize your garden. You can grow your own herbs and vegetables with enough space. Also, meat contains a lot of hormones that are part of animals feed in factory farming. You can end your support for this industry by not eating meat or at least reducing a meat consumption. That would be an ideal solution to those who want to contribute to our environment and make Mother Earth smile.

Take a walk with Her as often as you can.

You can also change your daily driving routine. You can carpool, take a bus, use a bike, or simply start walking. If your destination is close by, take a walk. Instead of driving to the gym to run the machines, run around your block. Reduce your contribution to carbon emission.

Ask Her over to your home.

Changing the use of toxic chemical cleaners is an easy way to reduce your footprints. You can use vinegar or baking soda without spreading harmful chemicals around your home. Just by making simple cleaners, you will not only save money but your actions will also improve the air quality around your home. Turning off the lights, regulating your thermostat during cold and hot seasons, unplugging the unused appliances, or installing low energy light bulbs will cut down on your energy usage. Washing your clothes takes a lot of energy and water. You can change your washing cycle to short warm or cold instead of regular hot or warm. Try even to use a clothesline or a drying rack to minimize your environmental footprints. Also, taking shorter showers, turning off water when flossing, fixing the leaks around your home will cut down your water usage.

There are many other ways we can contribute to the environmental sustainability. Even though those listed above may be seen as short, if all of us put them to use, the results will have a long term effect - Mother Earth will have a smile around the globe.

Make Mother Earth smile. Stay close to Her and call Her, so She knows you are all right!

An unhealthy balance cannot go on forever without 'correction' I fully believe in giving back in our daily lives. I read a quote the other day that said "If each of us sweeps in front of our own steps, the whole world would be clean." -- Goethe

I truly believe/hope there is a positive shift in global consciousness because "it's too late to be a pessimist" (quote from the movie "Home"). Thank you!
