The other day a friend and I were discussing several principles relative to life. Somewhere during the course of the conversation, I told him that if he happened upon me and a bear fighting, please do me a favor and help the bear. My intent behind that statement was very simple, I know what I must do if I am to survive this encounter. Although the bear has a 99.9% chance of destroying me, if I am to take advantage of my .1%, I must focus on the bear. The bear will not win the battle via subterfuge. His attack will be simple and straightforward without any deviations. If a friend appears on the scene, the first thing he will ask is, do you need any help? WHAT? He clearly sees me engaged with this big ferocious bear and I am bleeding from head to toe, and I must deal with a dumb question like that.
The mind must deal and process any material that it comes in contact with. Even though I may have been successfully holding onto my .1% and in the process of gaining ground. The stupidity of the question will cause my mind to process that thought, and there goes my advantage. Had the friend kept his mouth shut, I probably would have been able to continue my gain.
Some of the things people do defy logic. For example, the other day I had to run a few errands and told my spouse I would return as soon as I could. She also had to take care of a few things. We were to meet back at the house to take care of another matter. After taking care of my business, I decided to watch television until she returned. Apparently I fell asleep and was awaken by the sound of the phone. It was my spouse and she asked me if I was back home. For an instant, my mind was taken aback, I really had to determine if this was a dream, because why would the spouse call the house, I answer the phone, and she ask if I am back home. This could not be real life, it had to be a dream or a movie. What would compel a person to ask such an obvious question?
No, I am not putting my spouse down, because I as well as you have committed similar acts. My point is, in order for me to withstand the many different aspects of life, I must invoke my expert status, which will bring me to the realization that other folks are not as smart as me. I forgive them for all of their shortcomings, because they do not have the intellect to keep up with me. If I fail to implement my expert status, I will be forever more walking around in a state of confusion trying to understand what folks are really saying.
With me being my own authentic expert, I do not become angry anymore whenever I hear silly statements being uttered. I find ways to circumvent them without causing any stress to anyone. I really do appreciate the fact that I was born so smart, and others, well, I guess they will somehow survive.
So again, if you see me fighting a bear, please help the bear.
I hope you write for a living because I would buy your books....What a great way to make a point...I love your style...I love your point....well said God Bless you and your days and nights for brightening mine
Ed, Thanks for a laugh! Good job. Focus and purpose are indeed critical for survival. blessings, CYnthia
