I Want To Help The Victims Of The Boston Marathon

When I learned of the explosion at the Boston Marathon, I was at home, watching coverage of the incident on television. I imagined the panic that everyone there was feeling. At that moment, I wanted to help.

I sent an email to the Red Cross, in which I expressed my desire to give blood to help the victims. I had been a regular blood donor until about a year ago, when I became concerned about the possible reuse of needles during blood donations because of the bad economy. Fearing for my safety, I decided that it would be smarter to find another way to help. I wondered what I could do, since I do not have the money to make a financial donation. Fortunately, that night, I got an answer to my question.

I logged on to Twitter, where I saw a quote from Real Runners. The quote read, "Our hearts go out to the runners, spectators, volunteers, & everyone affected by the events in Boston today. Lace up, and run in their honor." I was inspired by that quote, and I do plan to run. However, since I live in a neighborhood where drug activity is prevalent, it is not safe for a woman to be out by herself. Therefore, I will be running in my kitchen. There, I can be safe. I can also listen to the music of my choice as I run. I have a variety of music to choose from that will help me to have a good run. A good workout will help me to watch my weight, manage stress, and sleep well, which will help me to live a balanced life and will make me fun to be with.

One song I might choose to run to is "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel. This song is four minutes and forty-nine seconds in length, so I would get a good workout by running to this song. In addition to being a good running song, I like this song because it makes history fun. I also have other songs to choose from, however.

Another song I have considered running to is "River of Dreams", also by Billy Joel. This song is four minutes and five seconds in length, so I would also have a good run with this song.

I would like to run in the Boston Marathon one day. Hopefully, I will be safe. I will come out of the event unharmed and eager to do it again.
