Okay I had to write this article today after seeing this report in the news. I want the world to open their freaking eyes. There is no heart anymore, or even COMMON SENSE for that matter. All the justice system and judges care about these days (majority) is...well I do not really know, read this and you tell me. I will state the case, and then the facts. Please leave feedback.
The Case
A 17 year old 11th grade honors student, Diane Tran, from Willis High School in Texas was jailed for truancy.
Judge Lanny Moriarty says that Tran was warned last month by him for missing too many days in school after showing up in his court room.
Well, that didn't work. Wednesday he ordered a summons for her arrest in an open court when she appeared for missing yet another class.
He sent her to jail for one night and charges a fine of $100.
Okay, so it doesn't seem all that bad does it. Well, before you make that conclusion, I would like you to read the facts of the case below. This is where it gets ridiculous.
The Facts - They Do Not Care About Them
The judge and courtroom fails to care about the facts of the case and why this girl has been missing so many days at school.
The fact is that this 17 year old girl currently works a full-time job, a part-time job, as well as takes advanced placement and dual level college placement courses. With all these hours she says she often fails to wake up in time for school. In fact, she also claims that she sometimes doesnt get to bed until 7am due to the jobs, school and homework. So why does she do this?
Well, her parents both divorced "out of the blue" and both moved away. This has left her to support herself, help support her older brother at Texas A&M as well as her baby sister.
Do you think she should be in any trouble now?!
Conclusion
The world is going to h e double hockey sticks if we continue to treat everyone the same and just not listen to the facts. The fact is that every persons case is different.
Would they rather this girl drop out of high school. At least she is trying.
I know I would definately care for a baby before going to school. So being as she had a heart and wanted to take care of A BABY FOR CHRISTS SAKE, she is a CRIMINAL?!?!
This is insane and I hope this judge gets a change of heart. He has some serious soul searching to do. Outrageous.
I remember my grandad dropped out of school in the 5th grade to work to take care of his family, if it werent for him I would probably not be here today. Does that mean he is a criminal as well.
World Wake Up!
Anyone have any opinions here?
