Hypnosis Helped Me Lose Weight

I entered the therapist’s room slightly nervous as to what to expect. I was due to be hypnotised to help me lose weight.

I must admit I had mixed feelings about hypnotism. I certainly believed in its usage. As a health worker I had seen hypnosis used in medical situations for pain relief and it seemed to me to be completely effective.

I was keen to use it for myself

I was made to feel comfortable, relaxing in a large chair with my feet up. It was quite cool in the room so I remember the therapist covered me over with warm blankets. She explained to me that it was important for my body to feel warm, in order for me to be able to relax properly.

Very soon, I was listening to the therapists soothing low voice helping me to relax.

I remember the therapists using lots of visual ideas and asking me to see myself in these various places. For example there was a large staircase with steps leading down to a door at the bottom. I was asked to visualise the kind of door that I wanted to walk through. At the other side of the door was a beautiful place, a place that was memorable to me and one, that I could think of easily. In this place there was a huge table full of food. Some of the food was healthy choices and some not as good a choice, such as chocolate and donuts. I would see myself at the table only, choosing the healthy food. This was the food that I would choose, as it was the right food for me and I only ever chose the healthy food.

Then I remember being asked to count backwards from 5 to 1 at which point I opened my eyes and was wide awake.

After being more aware of my surroundings, I said to the therapist that I could only remember some of what she had said and I must have fell asleep for some as I could not remember it all. Apparently this not remembering is entirely normal and it did not mean that my subconscious mind had not taken in the suggestions that had been offered to it.

Afterwards I remember feeling different from that moment and found myself later not wanting to eat the foods that I would normally have chosen. I found that I did lose weight for a week or so, but did not manage to sustain this for long.

Apparently I would need to have a course of sessions to gain the benefits and then an occasional one off booster session.

Hypnosis helped me lose weight so I would definitely use it again.

When Did Hypnosis Start?
We asked a question the other day and never answered it. "Who invented Hypnosis?" We did come to the conclusion that it wasn't someone who leaped from his bath yelling; "I have it!" Perhaps a more apt question would be; "When was Hypnosis discovered?" or When did hypnosis start? But…
