All About Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Extra virgin coconut oil is very good for you. However, it's important to get a good quality oil which is organic, unrefined, cold-pressed, virgin or extra virgin. This type is easily found in any organic health food store or online. Always read over the container because it will say all of this on it. The oil remains solid at room temperature and melts at 78 degrees. You will notice in its solid form it looks and smells like coconuts with its snowy white color and delicious coconut aroma.

Organic means that the oil has no pesticides, GMO's, or hexane. GMO stands for "genetically modified organism" meaning it's DNA was changed to get a particular result. Hexane is a colorless flammable liquid alkaline used to extract edible oils from seeds and vegetables and comes from petroleum. In any case, organic coconut oil does not contain GMO's, hexane, or pesticides and is 100% pure, natural, and good for you.

There are a number of ways to consume organic coconut oil. The recommended dose usually goes by your weight, but you can consume up to 3 tablespoons per day. Some ways of consuming it are simply by substituting it in place of butter, margarine, and your everyday cooking oil. You can put some on bread, vegetables, or even popcorn and the good qualities of the oil are not broken down in high heat making it ideal for frying just about anything you wish. Another way is adding some to your smoothies, tea, or coffee.

It's really not difficult adding it to your everyday diet. I start my morning with a tablespoon of coconut oil in my coffee. As long as you don't mind the smell and taste of coconuts, you will enjoy it. It has a rich aroma of coconuts with an enticing light taste. It's something you need to consume internally and use externally to get the most benefits. Some use it for different reasons, but I enjoy it in my coffee for energy and help with digestion.

Internally, coconut oil is used for a long list of different conditions such as ulcers, acid reflux, fatigue, cysts, digestion, constipation, canker sores, diabetes, migraines, thyroid function, and many more. Externally, it helps to treat many skin conditions such as: acne, age spots, dry skin, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, cellulite, diaper rash, wrinkle cream, fungal infections, and many more. You can also use coconut oil for hair simply by massaging into the ends and then washing as usual. There really are many possibilities with extra virgin organic coconut oil.

Coconut oil melts at 76 degrees. GMO is not something that would be present in tomatoes; the tomatoes would be the GMO (genetically modified organism). GMO is not something coconut oil would contain, the coconut oil itself would be GMO if it was modified.
