All About Nutiva Coconut Oil

I have written lots of articles about the benefits associated with organic coconut oil. This article will focus on one brand that I have used every day for the last 8 months, Nutiva Coconut Oil. Not only is this stuff high quality, but it's also rather inexpensive compared to some of the others. This is the real thing, 100% natural and all. It's everything it's supposed to be: made from coconuts, cold-pressed, chemical free, certified organic, unrefined, and absolutely delicious.

Nutiva's coconut oil is extra virgin with a pleasant aroma and light taste. You will notice it to be pure white with tiny brown specks in the bottom which are from the coconut fiber. When I was trying some for the first time in my morning coffee, I didn't know what to expect. After I took that first sip, I thought "Wow, this is actually really good." I've been drinking it ever since each morning and just love it.

You see, how its processed is the key to its color, aroma, taste, and texture. After the meat is chopped, it's thoroughly washed and dried. The coconut meat is cold pressed and made into pure virgin coconut oil. Other oils made for cooking and skincare are often made by chopping the coconut, drying it, scooping the meat out, and then sending it out to mills where it's bleached, refined, and sometimes deodorized. This is not certified organic coconut oil.

The miracle ingredient in Nutiva is lauric acid, which makes up 50% of it. This is a rather rare medium chain fatty acid which can also be found in human breast milk. We all know how important breast milk is for infant development. Lauric acid has many anti-properties which helps support a healthy metabolism. Some of these anti-properties include: anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-microbial. Now because of these anti-properties, there are many health benefits of coconut oil.

Keep in mind that this is a tropical oil from nature. Just the other day I listened to Dr. Oz calling it a "miracle food" with many health benefits. This is not a hydrogenated oil but 100% organic and pure which is what you will benefit from. Nutiva coconut oil is great to use for the skin, hair, and overall health. It lasts a very long time because you don't need to use a lot of it. It tastes amazing in coffee, smoothies, on toast, or in baking. It is very nutritious for the body inside and out.
