Fast Food Is So Unhealthy Even the Wrappers Can Kill You

Perfluoroalkyls, is not a Greek surname. They are chemicals used to keep grease from leaking through fast food wrappers. Well here’s the bad news. These toxic chemicals are being ingested by people through their food and are showing up as contaminants in their blood. Perfluoroalkyls are synthetic chemicals that repel oil, grease, and water and are being used widely in the wrappers for fast food, but apparently they are not staying in the wrappers.

As if fast food isn’t bad enough. Now, the wrappers that fast food come in will hurt you. We used to joke that the packaging in most processed food contains about the same amount of nutrition than the actual food. Now we can’t even say that.

Perfluoroalkyls, which include perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) are being consumed by people unknowingly and they are hazardous. A few common sources include:

• Fast Food Wrappers

• Drinking Water

• Non-stick Cookware

• Carpet and Fabric Protectors

• Stain-proof Clothing

Here’s something disturbing: recent studies reveal that these chemicals, which total 12 different types of chemical perfluorinated compounds (PFC’s) of can be detected in virtually everyone in the U.S.

The chemicals found in fast food wrappers are called polyfluoroalkyl phosphate esters, known as PAPs. A study conducted recently by environmental chemists established conclusively that these chemicals pass from the wrapper to the food to our bodies to our blood.

Evidently, the regulators in charge of approving such chemicals in food wrappers insisted that a) the chemicals wood not migrate from the wrapper to the food b) the chemicals would not get into our bodies and c) your bodies would not process the chemicals. Guess what? They were wrong. Regulators wrong? How surprising.

The Health Dangers of PFC’s & PFOA

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) research has attributed many health risks associated with PFC’s. These include:

• Birth Defects - Infertility

• Thyroid Disease

• Cancer – Including Breast, Testicular and Prostate.

• Immune System Problems

• Increased LDL Cholesterol Levels

How to Protect Yourself

I think its safe to say that everyone is aware of the dangers of fast food. This is just one more reason to say no to the drive-thru. The body needs to be supported with proper nutrition in order for it to support you with high levels of health and wellness. Fast food (and its packaging) are robbing you of this. Make a strong effort to avoid fast food and these “wrapper toxins” will never be an issue. Oh, and you’ll probably lose some lbs too!

Chemicals and other toxins can be unavoidable even with the most rigid diet and health disciplines. We strongly suggest cleansing and detoxifying your body regularly and even consider taking a high-quality superfood greens powder.
