Foods Can Heal And Foods Can Kill

Foods can heal your body and foods can kill your body. Knowing what foods are good for us and what foods can harms us can make a huge difference to our health. How can we discover what foods are good for us and what foods harm us?

Let's start with some research on diet and how it affects your health. Dr. Campbell taught at Cornell University and dedicated his life to studying diet and its effects on our health. His initial research focused on testing the theory that eating animal based proteins would help feed the the poor in less developed countries. While working in the Philippines, he noticed that the children of the rich who could afford meat and ate higher quantities of it were actually more prone to liver cancer than the poor, malnourished children. So he changed his research and began studying the effects of diet on your health. Over 30 plus years of research ended up in his recent best seller, “The China Study” which is the most comprehensive long term diet versus health-related research ever undertaken on humans. It has recently been made into a documentary called “Forks over Knives”. Dr. Esselstyn, a surgeon and responsible for the Breast Cancer Task Force at the famous Cleveland Clinic independently corroborated Dr. Campbell’s research through his own clinical studies.

Their research led them to the conclusion that diseases such heart diseases, diabetes, and various cancers, can be prevented and sometimes reversed by changing your diet to a healthier whole-foods and more plant based diet”. Their finding have can have a major impact on the way we eat yet most people are unaware of these findings.

However, there is a small but growing body of doctors who are treating patients using only plant based whole foods with great success such as Drs. John MacDougall, Andrew Weill, Neal Barnard, Michael Greger etc. and their results also confirm Dr. Campbell’s and Dr. Esselstyn’s research. The conclusion of the above research shows that eating a whole foods, plant based diet makes good health sense. As Thomas Edison said, "the doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.".

The future has now arrived. Why not read the book and watch the documentary then take your own health into your hands. Let's start an experiment and eat a whole foods, plant based diet for about six months - a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, rich in grains and herbs - and then notice the results.
