Foods for Anti Aging: Eat to Be Younger!

Yesterday I shared the foods that cause inflammation. Now that you know what foods are the ones to avoid, which ones should you eat? Which ones are power packed and able to fight premature aging and help you fight disease? Today I would like to share the foods for anti aging.

First, you want to be sure to get lots of antioxidants and phytonutrients from sources like cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Phytonutrients from plant sources play a large role in fighting aging and avoiding disease. These kinds of foods also prevent free radicals from attacking the body while preventing the signs of early aging. Other foods that fall into this category are sweet potatoes, spinach, garlic, and broccoli. You can also add any leafy dark green vegetables to the list.

Second in the group of foods for anti aging are ones that are raised free of pesticides, hormones, and chemicals. Eat organic whole grains, organic proteins, organic fruits and vegetables. Basically avoid anything that is processed! If it has been altered by human hands then don’t eat it.

If you like to eat beef, be sure it comes from either a free range source, or better yet, buy organic beef. You don’t want to eat any animal proteins that have been fed foods that have been chemically altered, like gmo corn for example, and have been injected with steroids and antibiotics.

I always wonder when I see a six foot four inch tall teenager, who has parents that are of less than average height. These teens usually drink a lot of milk. If it’s not organic chances are it’s loaded with growth hormones from the cows used in dairy production. Do you think those residual growth hormones in the milk have anything to do with the teens above average height? Just something to ponder. I sure wouldn’t take the chance. Talk about foods for anti aging! That would be foods for accelerated growth! Sure, the kid may get a basketball scholarship but what about his long term health?

Good quality proteins are needed to slow the decline of lean muscle mass as adults reach the age of 40, and beyond. Organic animal proteins are the best thing to add to the category of foods for anti aging.

As far as grains, the best are organic sprouted grains. The body does not have an ability to deal with large amounts of carbs other than to store them as fat. Definitely an inflammatory situation! If you choose organic sprouted grains, rich in vitamins and beta carotene, you can help your bodies digestion and ability to lose weight because the grains are sprouted and not processed grains.

In addition to foods for anti aging, you need to turn to supplements. There are three that are important for preventing early aging. In order to protects your cells from free radical damage take vitamin E. It is a powerful antioxidant for your cells that battles heart disease, cancers, and others. Also take omega-3 if you don’t eat salmon regularly, and if you don’t take CoQ10, you should as there is usually a lack of this important compound in your body.

If you will put these anti aging foods in your diet, you will have a better chance of fighting premature aging. A healthy diet of whole unprocessed foods is your best way to fight weight gain, poor energy levels, chronic sickness and inflammation, and nagging pain. After all, who wouldn’t want better looking skin and more mental clarity!
