Hey! You with the beer and the cheesy snacks! Put that stuff down and listen to me. Your heart is quite displeased with you as is your stomach. In fact, most of your body is ready to stage a painful coup if you don't start taking better care of it. What are you thinking eating that stuff? You would think that you had no clue at all of what you are doing to your self. Here is your clue, silly man.
It seems that some men grow up thinking that they are invincible and part goats- that they can eat anything they want to eat and not worry about the health consequences at all. Sure there are men who worry about gaining weight and will actually eat slightly better food choices but there are far too many lazy men sitting in their lazy boys knocking back too many beers and eating too many fat-laden, over salted and over processed foods. While a beer or two a night is actually beneficial, drinking to excess is not, especially if the foods that are being eaten during the night of drinking are quite nearly toxic.
So, what foods should you be avoiding, then? First, any food that glows in the dark or has any part of its name spelled incorrectly as part of its marketing should be roundly avoided. Next, read the labels of the foods you are picking up. Any food that has more than five ingredients listed is not a good idea either. You should be opting for foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. A nice lean cut of meat for instance has one ingredient: meat. A frozen dinner might have as many as twenty different ingredients, most of them harmful chemicals. In addition, those foods are loaded with fat and salt which should also be minimized as much as possible.
Men should be avoiding empty calories as much as possible too. That does not mean sweet foods are out of the question. Everyone needs a treat every now and then. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a piece of chocolate, especially dark chocolate in moderation. Before you panic, that "in moderation" concept applies to beer and wine as well. Both are good for the heart and have other benefits as well.
Foods that are loaded with thick sauces or cooked in grease should also be eliminated from the diet. Sorry, boys, daily bacon is not a good idea. A slice or two of turkey bacon is okay but should be kept to a time or two a week. Your body will thank you for it.
