Foods That Are Filling And Low Cal

Everyone is looking for that one diet program that will work for them. No matter what type of diet you have started, the best bet will be one that includes plenty of foods that are both filling but low in calories. Filling foods are the most effective because not only do you need the energy provided by these foods but you will find it easier to stick with a program if it does not leave you feeling hungry. A rumbling tummy often leads to panic and can be distracting, frustrating and annoying.

Protein foods are filling but some are higher in calories than other choices. Your absolute best choice here are beans of every variety. Beans, a rich source of plant based protein, are also high in dietary fiber, including the insoluble type. Adding a serving of beans to at least one meal per day will not only help you to stay full for longer but will also aid weight loss. White beans like canneloni beans make up the active ingredient for certain types of starch blocking supplements. There are many varieties of beans which can be used in a wide variety of ways. Pureed beans can also be used in place of part of the fats in your baked goods without changing the flavor or the texture.

Whole grain foods are another good choice. A bowl of real, steel cut oatmeal in the morning can keep you satisfied all the way to lunch. Think of your typical breakfast of drive through coffee and maybe a muffin or bagel. How long can you go before you start looking for a snack? If you skip breakfast on a regular basis you are also setting yourself up for a slowed metabolism as well.

Foods that are as close to their natural state as possible are always your best choice. A glass of orange juice will give you more than one hundred calories but will leave you feeling unsatisfied in a very short amount of time. A whole orange, on the other hand will give you about sixty calories with the same vitamin content. In addition, you will get the fiber from the fruit which will keep you fuller for longer because it takes longer to digest. If you want the fruit juice, only choose the most natural types without any added sugar.

Popcorn is another great choice because it is low in calories, high in fiber and provides you with the stomach filling volume without making you eat the wrong foods.
