Forks Over Knives Diet

It's been the buzz of the internet lately "have you seen the Forks Over Knives diet movie yet?" It's a great film on an even better subject: diet and nutrition. And while the film is about those topics, it isn't a called 'Forks Over Knives Diet' because, while it is focusing on how to eat, it isn't a how-to about eating. I hope I didn't confuse you there, but it is a very fine line.

As Forks Over Knives starts, it doesn't seem to even be about diet because it's telling us how many sick people there are in the US and how that compares to other countries or past decades in our own. But very soon in Forks Over Knives, diet becomes the sure center of attention. Hippocrates said it best and this sets the tone of the movie, "Let food be thy medicine." Immediately we are delved into what food can do for us and to us. From promoting cancer growth, to causing Type II diabetes to heart disease the finger is pointed squarely at food. And the solution offered by Forks Over Knives is diet. No, not dieting but the greater definition of diet - what we eat normally on an ongoing basis. In fact, you won't even hear mention of 'dieting' in the film because that goes against all principles of healthful living. A restrictive, temporary diet does nothing more than shock the body likely causing more ill effect than good.

The Forks Over Knives diet goes much further than this, recommending dramatic changes in what we even think of as being food and how this new way of thinking affects our dietary choices. Yes, to be healthy requires change and that is something many of us find hard to do. In our culture we've grown accustomed to the breakfast of coffee, lunch of fatty fast foods and a large, heavy dinner of rich animal-based foods. This way of getting calories is totally backward from what any nutrition expert will advise. The Forks Over Knives diet teaches a balanced approach where you don't overload or starve but rather give your body enough to do what is necessary.

As is stated very clearly in Forks Over Knives, diet is the key to our health. It is also our personal assistant in the business of fighting and overcoming diseases of affluence. As you consider your own health, remember that practicing a Forks Over Knives diet will set you on the road to a long, healthy life.
