Gardening: A Solution (part I)

Introduction

Never in any time in the history we have had this many doctors in the United States i.e. about 700,000 doctors. Again in no country people spend this much money on healthcare i.e. about 1 trillion dollars a year. Can you believe that? Are you shocked? What do you think is the reason? Do you think people are meant to get sick with different diseases and so many of them die in suffering? Or is there something wrong?

What's the problem?

You suppose that these doctors can help people to get rid of their diseases??? No of course not: United States leads the world in deaths from heart disease, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and diabetes. Is this horrifying?Yes, so what is the problem?

Our everyday lifestyle:

Yeah you're right the problem is our lifestyle. Our modern lifestyle has taken its toll on our bodies. Processed low fiber foods, animal fats, lack of exercise and an increasing level of stress from our jobs and our way of life have contributed very much to our current health problems.

Nutritional value of fruits and vegetables in today's world:

So eating meat and fat is a problem which we do not want to tackle right now. It will be a subject for future articles. But in the meantime we can talk about the fruits and vegetables that we eat on a day to day basis. Of course so many of us go to the nearest supermarket to buy fruits and vegetables when we need them. But are these really fruits and vegetables? Are you sure?Today the nutritional value of 80 cups of spinach which you buy in the nearest supermarket just gives you the same iron you'd get from just one cup of spinach in 50 years back. In nowadays' world you need 19 ears of corn to get the nutritional value of just one ear of corn in 1940. And also the protein contained in today's wheat is half the protein in the wheat of 50 years ago.

What happened?

Why are these facts true? Why is this an issue? Because we gave our land so much chemical fertilizers that nowadays we don't even think about the quality of our vegetables and fruits and other kinds of food as well. So what should we do? I do not want to say that you have to stop buying from your supermarket, of course that you have to buy some fruits and vegetables now and then. But there is an alternative for so many of these vegetables and plants.

Alternative:

AND it is a fact that you can grow them in your house, under your own supervision. you can grow healthy vegetables and fruits and not only use their nutritional value but also you can find the difference in the taste. Healthy fruit and vegetables taste like heaven. You will agree to that certainly.
