We all have our favorite dishes, as well as our favorite veggies and fruits. But, when we spend time at home, we tend to open the fridge here and there, or grab some snacks. Those habits can be equally good and bad, depending on what you actually consume. That's why it's always good to have a place where you'll always have your favorite, healthy fruit - a fruit basket.
Eating in small dosages, multiple times a day is really good for metabolism. Just make sure the food you turn to often isn't full of calories you won't be able to spend during the day, or that it has other bad influence on your health. Look for fruits. Everyone likes at least 4 types of fruit, most of which are totally available and affordable.
Ideally, your fruit basket will contain fruits of these categories;
1 - Citrus - Oranges, tangerines, clementines, grapefruits, lemons are all extremely healthy and beneficial for health because they're full of vitamins (especially Vitamin C), and are strong anti-oxidants. They're also pretty refreshing. Oranges tend to 'squeeze' your stomach, so you don't experience unnecessary hunger.
2 - Tropic - Bananas, mangos, pineapples, papayas, avocados and coconuts are full of healthy minerals (like potassium) and other nutrients. They're also strong anti-oxidants, and are often used in weight loss diets. Some of these fruits may be expensive or hard to find, but some of them are really affordable and can be found in local fruit shops, shopping centers or green marketplaces.
3 - Seeds and nuts - Seeds and nuts of course aren't fruits. But, you can put all sorts of them in your fruit basket, and that's a really advisable thing to do. You can get some pistachios, walnuts, almonds, and then some pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds. Eating these is much healthier than eating fried potato chips, but can replace your snacking habits.
4 - Dried fruits & berries - Dried fruits sometimes give fruits a totally different taste. Dried figs, for example, are awesome source of fibers, making them beneficial for heart. Dried plums are good for digestion, cranberries are awesome antioxidants. You may find many health reasons to get those, aside with their beautiful taste.
5 - Domestic fruits - You may have an apple tree in front of your house, or perhaps a peach or a pear. Actually, any fruit you grow at home should be in your fruit basket. Find a way to grow some fruits at home, also. Most of them are easy to maintain and taste better than mass produced fruits.
Fruit basket should be on your table, no matter what it takes. It's a good step towards healthy living. Set aside a budget for your favorite fruits, and get a habit of snacking fruit instead of snack. That will be your big healthy decision, and will help you with your body weight management.
