Breakfast is undoubtedly the hardest meal for many to alter when going gluten free because so many of our everyday breakfast foods are loaded with gluten. Waffles, pancakes, bagels, muffins, and most cereals are extremely high in wheat products and thus plastered with gluten. Luckily in recent years there has been a rise of good tasting and nutritious gluten free cereals and other breakfast products.
Breakfast Mix
Bisquick makes great gluten free pancake and baking mix that uses rice flour in place of normal flour. This is highly suggested on Amazon and has a rating of over 4 stars out of 5. It is a very versatile mix and can be used to make many different types of breakfast products such as waffles, pancakes, and even biscuits. In my experience, it is the product to use when you are looking to match the most genuine wheat flour baking mix taste. Unlike many other mixes on the market it is not grainy at all but rather quite smooth.
Cereal
In terms of gluten free cereal, there are many awesome products to choose from. As a big Kellogg’s Rice Krispies I am delighted to tell you that Kellogg’s makes gluten free Rice Krispies that taste exactly like the normal ones. These are perfect because they can be used as both normal cereal and the famous rice krispy treat bars. Chex also happens to have a whole division of cereals to choose from. They make many of your favorites such as cinnamon chex, rice chex, corn chex, and even chocolate chex in gluten free form. This is a great kid’s cereal and can also be mixed with some other gluten free products to create your own secret version of gluten free chex mix.
If you don’t want to go the route of a common brand name, Natures Path Organic makes a very highly rated whole grain gluten free crispy rice cereal. This is made with completely gluten free brown rice flour molded into scrumptious nuggets. It is also very healthy containing no sugar and is relatively inexpensive for a gluten free product. This is also one of the highest rated gluten free cereals on Amazon receiving just short of 5 stars.
There is a lot of information about gluten free cereal and other gluten free breakfast products on the gluten free grocery list. You can also find other lists of gluten free foods such as some great bread and cake mixes.
