Healthy eating.
Today I’ll be focusing on fiber rich foods since they play a vital role in losing weight. One of the major reasons why fiber is so important at helping you lose weight is that it takes longer for the body to digest. Which means you don’t get hungry as often.
And since the more food you consume the more likely you are to gain weight, or even eat the wrong food it is best to learn about high fiber foods.
Now keep in mind a good diet consists of other elements such as good carbs and protein, but our focus today is on fiber.
Fruits
Some good high fiber fruits would be Apples, Kiwi, and Avacados:
Apples
Apples are great since they only carry about 95 calories per apple, and about 4 grams of fiber. Nevertheless, they curb the hunger for sweets and candy since they are sweet themselves. Not to mention a good source of vitamin C, boosting your immune system
Kiwi
Kiwi has a great many benefits..
It is loaded with vitamins and minerals, and studies have found that eating a high fiber diet can lower cholesterol levels which in turn reduce the risk of heart disease.
Kiwis are also a good source of potassium, which prevents the weakening of bones.
Avocados
Avocados are great for helping you lose weight, and they carry 54% of your recommended daily value of fiber.
They are also known to prevent breast cancer due to the oleic acid it carries.
Vegetables
Some good high fiber vegetables would be Lima beans, Spinach and collard greens
Lima Beans
Lima beans are a very good source of fiber. Just one cup of lima beans will give you 65% of the daily value for fiber.
They are also known to help stabilize blood sugar levels.
Spinach
Spinach is definitely a nutritional powerhouse no wonder it worked wonders for Popeye :) Only a few people will get that joke. Nevertheless Spinach carries nearly 20% of your recommended daily value of fiber per cup.
And due to its high levels of magnesium, zinc and copper, it also helps in prevention of osteoporosis and helps build strong bones.
Collard Greens
Apart from carrying a great dietary fiber, collard greens are a great source of protein.
Their antioxidant properties also help improve the body's immune system.
In conclusion, dietary fiber helps maintain a super digestive system, helps transport cholesterol out of our body, reducing our risk for heart disease and other health risks. So be sure to include some high fiber fruits and veggies in your diet!!
