Healthy Homemade Salad Dressing Recipe

My healthy homemade salad dressing...most of us rely on fat free or low calorie salad dressing, but don't.if you really want to boost the full nutrient from salads. Many people try to cut calories by using non-fat salad dressings. We all know now... this can inhibit your body's absorption of nutrients from the greens and other vegetables.

In a recent study, volunteers who ate spinach, romaine lettuce, red or green bell pepper, tomatoes and carrots topped with the two ounces Italian dressing containing either zero, six or 28 grams of canola oil. The blood tests revealed that the people who ate fat-free dressing absorbed a negligible amount of beta carotene, a carotenoid that's been linked to protection against cancer and heart disease. The highest fat dressing offered the greatest absorption of beta carotene as well as alpha and lycopene.

My suggestion is.. it will be better to use homemade dressings (to reduce the sodium level). Try a combination of extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, ground pepper, veggit or other salt substitute, and herbs and spices of your choosing like turmeric or cumin. But make sure to use the dressing sparingly, not much, don't drench the greens.

Or you might like to make a honey mustard salad dressing by making a few tablespoons of each honey and Dijon mustard, a drizzle of lemon juice and about a quarter cup of extra virgin oil. More satisfying and delicious served on peppery greens like arugula.

***Spinach, Mushroom and Egg Chopped Salad

Preparation: 3 hard cooked omega-3 eggs

2 cups fresh baby spinach leaves, chopped

3/4 cup white mushrooms, diced

Note: Make sure to wash the leafy greens and mushroom very well. Don't wash greens until just before using.

***Raspberry vinaigrette:

Preparation: 1/2 cup raspberries

3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon unsweetened apple juice

1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon honey

Put all the ingredients together in a small bowl, whisks. Then toss the dressing with the salad. Serves to two people.

And also here's the salad dressing that you can prepared ahead of time for use in any of the vegetable salads you may choose:

Preparation: 1 cup extra virgin olive oil or canola

1/4 cup mineral water or boiled water (let it cool)

1 tablespoon honey or molasses

1 teaspoon chopped parsley

1/4 teaspoon barley malt concentrate or molasses

1 dash garlic powder

1 dash ground black pepper

1 dash onion powder

Add all of the ingredients to a jar or bottle with a tightly fitting lid. Shake it very well to mix the ingredients. Plan to eat salad , must shake it again.

My favorite salad dressings is extra virgin olive oil (any brand) plus balsamic vinegar which is good for our health. In addition, eating a large low calorie salad before the meal will takes the edge off your appetite and helps fill you up..sounds good for the dieters. Enjoy, live healthy!
