Healthy New Years Resolutions

In comes one year, out goes another! Is it the time to perhaps make another claim of something you want to accomplish in the New Year? Do you do that? Should you? I like to make healthy New Years resolutions. But mine are probably not like others that people make. They say: “I am going to lose thirty pounds,” or “I am going to quit smoking,” or even “I am going to get washboard abs!”

I like resolutions such as, “I am going to read a great book on health that will help me understand my body better.” You know why that’s so cool? Because the more I learn about my own health the better I treat my body! How can I eat garbage and not exercise when I learn how harmful that is for me!

How can this help you to have healthy New Years resolutions? Well, this year be realistic. Why set yourself up for failure again. You know each year you start out with great enthusiasm, but after a month, oh well, another failure. It happens every year but you keep trying. And that’s good! Don’t give up, just try something different. How about a new approach this year?

If your healthy New Years resolution is to eat better, lose weight, exercise more, go to the gym, or quit smoking, then why not make your healthy New Years resolution to find a book on eating better and read it. Find a good book on how to lose weight and study that. Go search the Internet on the effects of smoking on your body. Spend January finding a source of information that will help you reach your goal. Read the book in January, and by February you will be inspired to start to eat better, lose weight, etc., because you will have a plan.

The reason most people fail in their healthy New Years resolution is because they neglected to have a real good reason for doing what they say they were going to do, and they lacked a realistic plan to achieve their resolution. If you decide that weight loss is your goal, and you discover a great e-book that will teach you how to lose weight in a healthy manner, and teach you how to eat properly, then you will move ahead and actually achieve your resolution.

So, do yourself a favor, and no matter what your healthy New Years resolution may be, spend January doing some research. Make that your resolution, and come February, get started based on your research. I you get motivated by something you read, and put it into action sooner, all the better! Doing this will make your resolution last well into the New Year!

Franz wishes you optimal health, and much focus on your goals, in the New Year!
