How Much Water Should I Drink?

Drinking water has always seemed to have a natural standard. You should drink 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water a day no matter what. Well that just isn’t the case at all when it comes to water. You might be getting to much water and you also might not be getting enough water for the individual needs you have for water.

Depending on where you live in the world if you’re climate is more warm and someone else’s plays a great deal on how much water you should drink a day. You should if you live in a warm weather climate be drinking about 12 - 13 cups of water a day. The 8x8 method is only still used because it’s easy to remember but for the average human being living in a warm climate that’s about how much they should drink a day.

We lose water in many different ways, like urination, bowel movements and sweating. Something we all do every day and it’s hard to judge just how much is coming out to know how much to put back in but your body will let you know. You know if you’re working outside and sweating a good deal you should drink more water. If you are performing an indoor hobby and in the air conditioner, you, perhaps, wouldn’t need as much water that day as usually.

How much water you should drink a day should also be questioned if you are working out or doing hard labor for a job. Working hard means that your body sweats more and means that you have to replace the liquid you are losing through sweat by drinking something. Once you realize that you are thirsty it could already be too late. Heat stroke and dehydration is a quick way to get very sick if you aren’t paying attention to what you are doing. Work isn’t the only cause for dehydration either.

When someone gets sick and either through bowel movements or vomiting they can lose valuable water and not even realize it. Those with compromised immune systems, the elderly and children are most vulnerable to this situation and should be carefully monitored while they are sick. Knowing how much water they need to drink is very important.

Sometimes when we aren’t home we need water as well meaning we didn’t bring our own bottle and we need to buy some from the store. If we do not think our own tap water is safe or for another reason that available drinking water isn’t handy. Buying water from a store can be rather overwhelming as there are about 50 different types of water to drink. Look for something that indicates its drinking water. Flavored water usually has added sugar substitute so avoid that all together. Just get an inexpensive drinking water and you should be good.

How much water should you drink? Again, that’s a personal issue and you should listen to the way your body tells you when to drink it. Have at least 12-13 glasses of water a day and if you can’t get that many in get in as many as you think you need every single day. We are made up of water and our bodies crave and desire water every single day. Knowing to listen to your own personal thirst is the best way to know how much water you should drink.
