How To Eat Healthy

Eating healthy to lose weight is half of an age old duo of advice that no one really wants to hear. The other half of course is exercising to lose weight. It seems that in the vein of eating healthy tips that are available today, there is no end. Every big talk show personality and fitness guru has their own diet and of course makes claims that their program is the best and only way to go. But in the end, we as people really just need more general rules to follow. Eating healthy tips that won't break the bank or break our will to live life to its fullest.

Sound Advice

Eating healthy to lose weight is of course easier said than done, that is why I was so excited to stumble upon an article by Anthony Rando today entitled "Patch Picks: Five Healthy Eating Habits". This article falls into a category of advice that I have always enjoyed and try to employ whenever possible. This principle is labeled K.I.S.S. Otherwise known as "Keep It Simple Stupid". Rando has taken healthy eating and brought it down to a much more bare bones set of instructions that anyone can follow easily.

The Five Principles

The five principles that he puts on the table are ones that I absolutely stand by in my own pursuit for eating healthy to lose weight. These include drinking purified water, buying fresh, local produce, not skipping meals, eating smaller portions, and taking the time to sit down and eat. This list doesn't exactly look like the last diet you tried does it?

It Works For Me!

My wife and I have several eating healthy tips that we live by whenever possible. We absolutely sit down to eat every meal possible, eating in a rush is not only bad for things like indigestion, but it also tricks your body into thinking it might not get food again soon. We also drink as much purified water as we can, we have entirely cut soda from our lives, and only drink the occasional cup of coffee or tea other than water. This is huge.

We also both work at a local organic and natural grocer, so we buy almost exclusively local produce that is in season. It is amazing the benefits that you garner from getting nutrients from the source rather than in supplement form. Never ending energy! The only significant habit that we have taken upon ourselves that is not covered in this list is that we have replaced all of our cooking oils with extra virgin coconut oil. Using this miracle oil is not only delicious, but is one of the most important eating healthy tips next to drinking purified water.

Take Action!

Eating healthy to lose weight is certainly not an easy proposition. But following these easy eating healthy tips will get you started in a big way.
